About 15 km beyond, <strong data-start=\"9942\" data-end=\"9964\">Lamayuru Monastery<\/strong> emerges dramatically from eroded cliffs, one of Ladakh\u2019s most striking sights.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Basgo<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Above the road at this small town is the heavily devastated Basgo Fort. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.namasteindiatrip.com\/blog\/basgo-monastery\/\">Basgo Gompa<\/a> is worth a visit on account of its Buddha figures but, unfortunately, its wall painting have been badly water damaged. The first Gompa has a two-storey high golden Chamba statue in \u2018European\u2019 sitting posture. Smaller Chamba statues stand in front of the figure of the white clothed Chamonada. One of the three monks who live below the Gompa in a small house will have the Gompa key.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Nimmu<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p data-start=\"10298\" data-end=\"10562\">Near <strong data-start=\"10303\" data-end=\"10320\">Nimmu village<\/strong>, four Chortens stand quietly among green fields. Just ahead, the <strong data-start=\"10386\" data-end=\"10419\">Zanskar River meets the Indus<\/strong>, slicing through dramatic rock walls.
