Some stories claim that someone saw Babaji for the first time 2000 years ago. And such is the way Mahavatar Babaji is known to and followed by people.<\/p>\n<p>He stated in this autobiography that Babaji has given Yoga initiated to Shankara, an ancient founder of Swami Order and also to Saint Kabir, the medieval poet. He also states, \u201cMahavatar Babaji can be seen or recognized by others when he desires so. He is known to have appeared in many slightly different forms to various devotees, sometimes without beard and mustache and sometimes with them. As his undecaying body requires no food, the master seldom eats. As a social courtesy to visiting disciples, he occasionally accepts fruits or rice cooked in milk or clarified butter.\u201d<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Babaji\u2019s Cave in Dwarahat<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>It is said that Mahavatar Babaji educated Lahiri Mahasaya and delivered the Kriya Yoga teachings in this cave in 1861, which is located 25 kms from Dwarahat and 3 Kms from Kukuchina (Dunagiri Mountain) in the Kumaon region of Uttarakhand.<\/p>\n<p>Kukuchina Village, the closest starting point for the cave&#8217;s trek, is where you must go in order to get there. The Cave is then accessible only after an exhausting hike up the mountain. This cave offers visitors a profound sense of tranquility.
