Have a hearty breakfast because today is going to be strenuous. The coach takes you to Barkot, about 42 km away and then Hanumanchatti where everyone descends because the rest of the 7 km journey to Yamunotri will be covered either on foot or on horseback or in a doli (Charges for horseback and palanquin are to your account). Finally, we arrive at Yamunotri and devotees take a dip in the hot water kund prior to entering the temple. Yamunotri is usually the starting point of the char dham yatra and the Yamunotri temple is dedicated to Goddess Yamuna. Some opt to cook rice in the hot water and take it back home as “prasad”. After Darshan the group returns to Hanumanchatti and boards the coach for the drive back to Barkot and sleep in the hotel.
