How to Deal with Lost Documents on International Tours?

You have made bookings for cheap international tour packages for your foreign travels, and now it’s time to get some much-needed wisdom for your international tour. You can research places to see, where to eat, where to party, and where to take pictures. Travel documents like passports, ID proof, credit/debit cards, and air tickets are very important, but if you lose your travel documents, there’s no reason to panic. You can make things right by following these easy steps.

File a Police Complaint

The first thing you should do when you find your passport is missing is to file a police complaint. However, in order to file the report, you need to provide a photocopy of your passport, so make sure you have one with you. Once the report is filed, make sure you keep a copy of it!

Waste No Time and Speak To Your Embassy

After the police complaint is registered, head to your embassy. A little bit of browsing will be helpful to find the contact details, emergency numbers, or the exact address of the embassy. While at the embassy, you need to provide the photocopy of the police complaint and proceed as directed by the officers.

Collect all the specified Documents within the EMBASSY

Embassies do not have the authority to issue you a passport instantly; it usually takes them four weeks to do so. However, by providing the required details and documents, the embassy can issue ‘Travel Documents’ that will serve as a substitute for the missing passport. While supplying you with the temporary document, you will need to provide two passport-sized photos and a copy of your tickets. The photocopy of the tickets will support your departure from the host country.

Make a note of your card numbers or different security details

In order to complete the security check, bank officers may ask you a series of questions. Before calling, make a note of all the security details you provided when applying for the card; this simple step can save time and patience!

Inform the Involved Bank

It doesn’t matter where you have lost or misplaced your credit/debit cards. As soon as you find out about the loss, instead of panicking, inform your bank and report the mishap. Inform the bank about the missing card; this may require the details of your last transaction. Make sure, before you leave for your tour, you have the exact record of at least your last transaction.

To prevent your holidays from being disrupted, try to carry scanned copies of all the important documents with you. Keep a separate notebook with all the emergency contact numbers and also make sure to track all the places you visit during your journey. Keeping a note of your PNR numbers can also be of huge help to you in critical situations. If you have made bookings for cheap holiday packages with travel experts or websites, their help will ease many hassles you otherwise would have encountered during your travel!
