Jolly Grant Airport (Dehradun) to Sahastradhara Helipad: approximately 20–25 km by road, takes 45–60 minutes. Cab services and prepaid taxis are available outside the airport.

Temple Darshan Timings

For helicopter visitors: Arriving between 8–11 AM gives the best Darshan window at both temples. • Report your body weight correctly. The maximum weight limit for a person is 75–80 kg.
• Keep 1–2 buffer days in your itinerary as flight delays are common due to bad weather.
• Do not touch the helicopter parts. Always maintain a safe distance from helicopter rotors at all times.
• Total payload capacity is 420 kg for 6 passengers (as per Terms & Conditions).

Altitude & Health: What Helicopter Pilgrims Should Know

Kedarnath sits at 3,583 m and Badrinath at 3,100 m. Even by helicopter, you will be at these altitudes for 1–3 hours. Altitude sickness (AMS) is a real risk even for helicopter visitors.

Symptoms to watch: persistent headache, nausea, dizziness, breathlessness at rest, confusion. If any of these appear at the temple — inform our ground staff immediately. Do not ignore symptoms hoping they'll pass.

Best Time to Visit

The best time to visit Badrinath and Kedarnath is in two windows: May–June and September–October. The weather in these windows is quite pleasant, and therefore, makes for a comfortable time to go on temple tours and even indulge in sightseeing in the nearby areas.

Avoid going in the monsoon season (July–August) as the heavy rainfall makes the road slippery and accident-prone. Plus, there's an additional risk of landslides. Even for helicopter pilgrims, monsoon means frequent flight cancellations due to cloud cover and low visibility. May–June booking is recommended for first-time visitors.

And in the winters (November–April), the temples remain closed, and Darshan is not possible.

Spiritual Significance of Kedarnath

• This is also one of the 12 Jyotirlingas of Lord Shiva.
• This is the place where Pandavas sought the blessing of Lord Shiva for atonement of their sins accumulated during the Mahabharata war.
• Being located at a very high height, the Kedarnath Yatra is seen as a test of faith and endurance.

• Advance payment of 50% of total package cost to confirm booking.
• Remaining 50% to be paid at least 15 days before departure.
• Payment methods: NEFT, UPI, or Debit/Credit Card.
• Delay in payment may result in cancellation of booking.
• After successful payment, a booking confirmation will be sent via email and WhatsApp within 24 hours. This confirmation must be carried to the helipad.

Cancellation/Refund Policy:

• 30+ days before departure: 75% refund
• 15–29 days before departure: 50% refund
• 7–14 days before departure: 25% refund
• Less than 7 days before departure: 0% refund
• Weather cancellation policy: If flight is cancelled by the operator due to bad weather, a complimentary rescheduling to the next available date is offered. If rescheduling is not acceptable, 90% refund is processed (10% retained as administrative charge). This policy applies only to operator-initiated cancellations.

What to Do in Bad Weather

• If your flight is delayed, stay calm and don't panic.
• Follow the instructions of the pilot. If they decide to delay or cancel the flight, comply. Safety is of utmost importance.
• Stay in touch with your tour coordinator or helipad manager for updates.
• Stay warm and keep yourself hydrated.
• Carry extra food for delays caused by bad weather.
• Do not insist on flying in bad weather.
• Do not look for new helicopter bookings during delays.
• Be patient. Mountain weather often clears in early mornings.

Sahastradhara Helipad Dehradun

It is located in Dehradun and is the main operational base for helicopter flights headed towards Badrinath & Kedarnath. It is an important part of the Do Dham helicopter Yatra itinerary.

• This is the gateway hub for the Do Dham as well as Char Dham Yatra.
• It is located close to Dehradun's Jolly Grant Airport, which is very well-connected to cities like Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore, and Kolkata. This makes Sahastradhara helipad an ideal point for starting the aerial journey.
• It is located at lower altitude than Kedarnath and Badrinath, and therefore, offers much more reliable and safer takeoffs and landings.
• It can handle large passenger traffic.

Kedarnath Helipad

• The helipad is located just 500–700 metres away from the temple.
• You can reach the temple from the helipad by a short walk.
