Kamakhya Temple is one of the 51 Shakti Peethas in India and the only Yoni Peetha among them - the spot where the womb of Goddess Sati is believed to have fallen. The temple sits atop Nilachal Hill in Guwahati, Assam, and is dedicated to Goddess Kamakhya, the goddess of desire and feminine power.
Book this short trip to Maa Kamakhya with us and experience the divine presence of Maa Shakti in and around the temple. Ministry of Tourism, Government of India approved.
Kamakhya Temple stands apart from every other temple in India. Perched atop Nilachal Hill in Guwahati, Assam, it is the most powerful of the 51 Shakti Peethas - and the only Yoni Peetha, where the creative energy of Goddess Sati is believed to reside.
According to the Kalika Purana, when Goddess Sati self-immolated at Daksha's Yagna after her father insulted Lord Shiva, a grief-stricken Shiva carried her body through the universe. Lord Vishnu used his Sudarshana Chakra to divide Sati's remains into 51 parts. The Yoni fell here, on these very hills.
What strikes every first-time visitor: there is no idol inside the main sanctum. Devotees descend into a small, dark cave and offer prayers at a natural fissure in the rock - always moist from an underground spring. No statue, no image. Just the raw, living energy of the Goddess.
The temple's architecture follows the Nilachala style - a beehive-shaped dome surrounded by smaller shrines, different from anything in North or South India. The complex houses the full Dasa Mahavidya - ten great forms of the Divine Mother - each with its own temple on the hill.
Every June (22nd-25th), Kamakhya Temple closes its doors for three days. This is Ambubachi - the annual period when Goddess Kamakhya is believed to undergo her menstrual cycle. The natural spring inside the temple is said to run red during these days.
When the temple reopens (from 26 June), the Ambubachi Mela begins and runs till 3 July. Lakhs of devotees, sadhus, and Tantric practitioners gather from across India. It is one of the largest spiritual congregations in Northeast India. If you plan to attend, book your Kamakhya tour package at least 3-4 months in advance - hotels fill fast.

Wanted to visit Kamakhya Temple from long time and this short trip fitted my schedule. The driver was very polite and he knew his way around so transfers were fine. What stands out most is the sunrise over the Brahmaputra. Probably my favorite. We went to the temple in the morning and it was peaceful even with people there. Main places checked off in Guwahati. The hotel was comfortable and the breakfast was fresh.
Kamakhya Temple was by far the most unique and memorable experience of my whole trip. It was a lot of fun learning about its unique traditions and our guide was very patient and answered every single question we had. I loved how everything was organized and it took away any stress as it was my first time in India. There was a little traffic in Guwahati, but it really did not take away from the overall experience. The views of the city from Nilachal Hill were incredible too – and standing there just soaking up the scenery for a few quiet moments became one of my favorite memories of the journey.
I always like to know the culture of the places I visit and I got a nice introduction of Assam during this trip. The visit was made more meaning and clear by the explanation of our guide about the history and importance of Kamakhya Temple in a simple and interesting manner. We were held up for a little bit due to traffic around the city, but everything was handled calmly and professionally by the driver. I am very proud of the fact that I went to the temple in the morning without causing any disturbance.I spent a quiet morning visiting the temple which will be something I will always remember.
This tour was the first time we were able to visit Kamakhya Temple as a family and it was a smooth and memorable tour. The hotel was comfortable, the transportation was on time and the driver was nice during the whole trip. The visit to the temple was very well organised and we were able to complete the darshan without any undue strain. We also got a chance to go around to some nearby attractions in Guwahati which made the trip interesting. It was very well planned and a wonderful time was had at home. I would gladly recommend this package to anyone looking for a peaceful and hassle-free pilgrimage.

I prefer short religious tours, and this one met my expectations perfectly. The temple visit was well organized, even with the crowd. Our hotel had clean rooms, and the staff were polite during our stay. The guide shared interesting stories about the temple's history, and the tour did not feel rushed. I would gladly recommend this package to anyone looking for a comfortable pilgrimage.
The schedule for two days was really good for a short break to focus on my spirit. The people picking me up were on time the hotel was better than I thought it would be for such a stay and we got to see all the important places around Guwahati. The Kamakhya Temple was the part of the trip. I liked how professional the driver was and how everything was organized. My favorite part was when I got to spend a few minutes by myself after darshan just taking in the peaceful atmosphere around the Kamakhya Temple before I had to go back, to the city.
I had no idea that the trip would be so easy and safe and I wanted a simple pilgrimage. The team was very well organized and made me feel comfortable on the trip. I went with my driver to visit the temple and I was fulfilled spiritually and the driver said to me that I should go at a time that is not so loud. February weather was nice and we had a chance to tour the area. All other stops were on time but one restaurant stop was a little longer than we thought it would be.
This was a weekend trip and we found it to be a great experience. Our best part of the trip was visiting the Kamakhya Temple. We spent some quiet time there together and it was a peaceful place with the views off the hill making it special. The hotel was comfortable and the breakfast was also good, but we wished to try some more local Assamese dishes. From the moment we started out to the moment we departed, we were well organized and rode our bikes without any hassle.
I had arranged the Kamakhya Temple Tour Package with my parents, which was a very satisfying experience in all. They were well attended, and the hotel was clean and convenient. Our visit to the Kamakhya Temple was the highlight of our tour and we could still have a peaceful darshan amidst the crowd. He was a courteous and well informed driver of the local routes. It would have been better if we had spent a little more time in Guwahati on the days of sightseeing, but all other aspects were taken care of nicely. A nice and uplifting trip and would certainly recommend this trip to others.
Main aur mere husband ek peaceful short break chahte the. Ye itinerary bilkul waise hi nikli jaisi humne sochi thi. Kamakhya Temple ka atmosphere alag aur memorable tha. Guwahati city sightseeing se sirf pilgrimage nahi, city ko bhi achhe se explore karne ka mauka mila. Hotel ka breakfast simple tha, lekin taste achha tha. Hotel check-in ke time thodi der wait karni padi kyunki usi waqt ek aur group aa gaya tha. Staff ne situation jaldi handle kar liya. Poori journey ke dauran hum relaxed feel karte rahe. Trip ki achhi memories lekar wapas aaye.
My sister and I went and the two day plan was easy to follow. The best part of the trip was the temple darshan. Hotel staff were courteous and check-in was quick. Humid so bring water when sightseeing. I would have liked a little more time at the temple complex but the arrangements were reliable and comfortable overall.
My parents were both old and they came along, and everything was okay. The hotel was easily accessible and comfortable to use. Temple queues of course were long, but our driver gave us some instructions as to when's best. The trip to the sights was laid-back and unhurried. It was a short trip that has left us with some great memories.
I booked this package for my parents and me, hoping for a smooth and comfortable pilgrimage. The airport pickup was on time, the driver was polite, and the visit to Kamakhya Temple was definitely the highlight of our trip. The hotel rooms felt a bit small for three adults, and the itinerary timings were slightly tighter than we expected, so the trip felt a little rushed at times. With a bit more time to relax between activities, the overall experience would have been even better.
I booked this trip for my wife, daughter, and myself, hoping for a relaxing family getaway. The vehicle was clean, the driver was courteous, and we enjoyed visiting Kamakhya Temple and seeing the Brahmaputra River. However, the hotel room wasn't as comfortable as we had expected, and the breakfast was quite basic. The schedule also felt a little packed at times, so we couldn't enjoy each place at a relaxed pace. Overall, the trip had some nice moments, but it didn't fully meet our expectations.
Mujhe is package ki sabse achhi baat ye lagi ki airport pahunchte hi sab arrangements ready the. Pickup time par ho gaya, hotel achhi location par tha, aur Guwahati ke almost saare important sightseeing places cover ho gaye. Sabse khaas experience, of course, Kamakhya Temple ka darshan tha. Hamare driver polite aur friendly the, jiski wajah se poori journey comfortable rahi. Overall experience theek-thaak tha, lekin kuch cheezein aur better ho sakti thi. Hotel ka breakfast menu kaafi basic tha aur variety thodi kam lagi. Itinerary ke timings mein bhi thoda improvement ho sakta tha, kyunki kuch jagah unnecessary waiting ho gayi. Trip smoothly complete ho gaya, lekin woh extra special feeling nahi aayi jo ek perfect holiday mein hoti hai. Mere hisaab se ye ek decent, short trip thi.
The package includes 1-night hotel accommodation (double sharing), daily breakfast, a private AC vehicle for all transfers and sightseeing, pickup and drop from Guwahati Airport/Railway Station, and all applicable taxes.
