When you get down at the railway station or at the airport in Indore, you shall have to travel to Ujjain. As soon as you reach the city, you need to first check in and then rest. After lunch in the afternoon, you must commence with your sightseeing activities in Ujjain. Some of the places that you will visit today are, the Mahakaleshwar Jyotirlinga, ISKCON temple, Shakti Peeth,Gadkalika Temple, and the Harsiddhi Temple, Sandipani Ashram, Bade Ganesh Ka Mandir, Mahakal Lok and Ram Ghat. Later take an evening aarti at Mahakaleshwar Temple and back to the hotel. Have a sound sleep followed by a healthy and sumptuous dinner.
Once you have your light breakfast at the hotel, start your day by getting the darshan of Omkareshwar Jyotirlinga. Have a sacred bath in the River Narmada and pray to her to get a good life. Moreover, the city is also named after Lord Shiva, and its shape is rather close to Om (ॐ). Apart from this, with our Indore Ujjain Omkareshwar tour packages, you get to explore the hanging bridge over the River Narmada. This is one of the best selfie spots where you can make some amazing reels and expand your social media follower list.
Moreover, this city is home to 68 Teerths (holding high religious significance) and has a cluster of 108 Shivlingas, making it a must-visit Shiva site. You should also visit the ancient Mamleshwar temple, established beautifully on the left bank of the Narmada. Furthermore, don’t forget to make a visit to the Statue of Oneness (dedicated to Adi Shankaracharya). It is believed that the sacred inscriptions on the temple walls are dated to 1063 AD. Maharani Ahilyabai Holkar was known to be devoted and a patron of architecture, and gave her patronage to this temple, now a protected monument by the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI). Pay a visit to the temple, then take on the Narmada Parikrama, a sacred circular route around Omkar Hill, which is around 7 km.
Apart from this, the path that runs along the parikrama route is filled with many ancient temples, peaceful ashrams, and the meeting of two rivers, hence making the route quite beautiful and spiritual. One can also take a boat ride along the Narmada River (on a direct payment basis) to find the natural beauty and tranquility of the place.
Get up early in the morning and drive towards the sacred Omkareshwar Temple and witness the religious aura of the place. This is the time to say goodbye to the city and return to Indore. If time allows you then you can visit some of the prominent landmarks of the city, including the historic Rajwada Palace and the elegant Lal Bagh Palace.

This three-day pilgrimage was exactly what my family wanted. We reached Ujjain from Indore comfortably and had enough time to visit Mahakaleshwar Jyotirlinga, Harsiddhi Temple, and Ram Ghat. The evening atmosphere near the Shipra River was peaceful. On the second day, Omkareshwar felt even more serene. Walking across the bridge to the temple with the Narmada flowing below was unforgettable. We also enjoyed poha and jalebi in Ujjain before starting the day's journey. The hotel was comfortable, although check-in took a little longer than expected. Overall, it was a meaningful trip with a good balance of temple visits and relaxation.
I joined this trip with my mother, and it turned into one of our most memorable pilgrimages. Ujjain has a unique energy, especially around Mahakaleshwar Temple. We also visited Bade Ganeshji Ka Mandir and Harsiddhi Temple before spending the evening at Ram Ghat along the Shipra River. Watching devotees perform prayers there created a beautiful atmosphere. The drive to Omkareshwar was comfortable and scenic. Walking across the suspension bridge towards the Jyotirlinga temple while the Narmada flowed peacefully below was the highlight of the tour. We spent extra time sitting near the river instead of rushing back. March weather was pleasant for sightseeing, and local food like poha, sabudana khichdi, and fresh lassi made the experience even better.
I had wanted to visit both Mahakaleshwar and Omkareshwar Jyotirlingas for many years, and this itinerary covered them comfortably within three days. Ujjain impressed me with its ancient temples and peaceful ghats. We spent time at Ram Ghat in the evening and enjoyed the calm surroundings. The next day, the drive to Omkareshwar was pleasant. The temple island surrounded by the Narmada has a very peaceful atmosphere. After darshan, I simply sat near the river for some time instead of rushing back. We also tasted Indore's famous poha, jalebi, and bhutte ka kees during the trip. The weather was warm in May, but the early morning temple visits made it manageable. Overall, this pilgrimage left me feeling refreshed and spiritually satisfied.

I traveled with my parents, and the itinerary was comfortable for senior citizens. Mahakaleshwar Temple had a spiritual atmosphere that is difficult to describe. We also visited Kal Bhairav Temple and spent some quiet time at Ram Ghat. Omkareshwar was less crowded than I expected, and the peaceful surroundings near the Narmada made the visit memorable. September weather was pleasant after the rains, and everything looked fresh. Breakfast choices at one hotel were a little limited, but the rest of the arrangements were smooth.
This was a short but satisfying spiritual trip. We started from Indore and reached Ujjain comfortably. Mahakaleshwar Temple was naturally the main attraction, but I also enjoyed visiting Kal Bhairav Temple and Mangalnath Temple. Omkareshwar was peaceful, and the view of the Narmada River made the journey worthwhile. January mornings were cool, making temple visits comfortable.
I booked this trip with my parents to visit Mahakaleshwar and Omkareshwar Jyotirlingas. The itinerary was comfortable, and we covered the main places without much rush. Ujjain and Omkareshwar had a peaceful spiritual vibe, and we enjoyed the temple visits and local food. However, the June heat was tiring, and the overall experience was not as memorable as we expected. The places were beautiful, but the trip felt a little average.
Ye trip parents ke saath ki thi aur overall experience bahut accha raha. Mahakaleshwar Temple ka darshan sabse special part tha. Ram Ghat pe shaam ka time bahut peaceful laga. Omkareshwar pahunchne ke baad Narmada ka view dekhkar kaafi sukoon mila. Humne local poha, kachori aur garam jalebi bhi enjoy ki. Bas weekend hone ki wajah se Mahakaleshwar ke bahar thodi bheed thi. Baaki poori journey comfortable rahi.
Hum couple trip par gaye the aur experience kaafi memorable raha. Mahakaleshwar Temple ka darshan smoothly ho gaya kyunki hum subah jaldi pahunch gaye the. Harsiddhi Temple aur Ram Ghat bhi bahut achhe lage. Omkareshwar mein Narmada ke kinare chalna aur temple tak jaana bahut peaceful experience tha. Baarish ki wajah se weather accha tha, bas roads pe kuch jagah slow traffic mila. Overall trip worth thi.
I booked this trip with my parents as they wanted to visit Mahakaleshwar and Omkareshwar Jyotirlingas for a long time. The three-day itinerary was comfortable, and we were able to visit the important places without feeling too rushed. Ujjain had a peaceful spiritual vibe, and spending time at Ram Ghat was a beautiful experience. Omkareshwar was also memorable, especially walking near the temple and seeing the Narmada River around the island. We enjoyed local food like poha and jalebi during the journey. The afternoon heat in June was a little tiring, so staying hydrated was important. Overall, it was a decent pilgrimage experience with many good memories, though it could have felt a little more special.
The best time to travel would be from October to March. The weather is pleasant and visiting the temples and other sites is much easier. However, for the more devout, the Mahakaleshwar and Omkareshwar temples can be visited any time of the year.
The Mahakaleshwar Bhasma Aarti in the early hours is a very big attraction of Ujjain, but this must be booked in advance. The itinerary also includes the aarti at Mahakaleshwar Temple, which happens in the evening, and I very strongly suggest everyone participate in this.
There is no such ritual, but wearing modest and respectful clothes at the temples has always been a great practice.
The Parikrama is about 7 km long, which includes some stairs and slopes. However, if your body doesn’t allow you to take a complete round, then you may cover it in part.
I was not allowed to take cameras in certain temples, such as Mahakaleshwar and Omkareshwar, but in other areas, you can click pictures. Also, if you are a nature lover, then you must try a boat ride on the Narmada River.
Ujjain is one of the holiest places in India and is located on the banks of the sacred Shipra River. It is the home of one of the holiest Shiva Jyotirlinga in India, which is called the Mahakaleshwar Jyotirlinga and is frequented by Shiva devotees.
Some of the most famous foods of Ujjain are Panipuri, Kachori, Samosa, Dal Bafla, Poha, Khasta Sev, etc.
It takes about 3 to 4 hours to complete Darshan at Omkareshwar Temple.
The most recommended way to reach Omkareshwar from Ujjain is via a cab journey, and it takes about 3 hours and 20 minutes.
For a complete Ujjain tour, 4 days is enough.
