Guwahati, Kamakhya Temple & Shillong Tour

• Your journey begins in Guwahati, Assam’s gateway city! Once you get to the Guwahati Airport or Railway station, our tour representative will already be there to greet you with a warm welcome.
• Now, your sightseeing tour of the day begins. Firstly, you’ll be taken to the Kamakhya Temple, located on Nilachal Hill. This is one of 51 Shakti Peeth and is also one of India’s most powerful tantric temples. You can also buy the Darshan pass to skip the queues, which costs INR 501/person.
• Since, you’re here, take this opportunity to visit the nearby prominent temples, such as

• Have a hearty breakfast in the morning.
• Now you’ll be taken to Shillong. And we’ll make a stop at the ever-so-beautiful Barapani Lake (which is also known as Umiam Lake). Enjoy this emerald-blue lake, which is surrounded by sylvan hills – making for a perfect photo op!
• Once you reach Shillong, check into your pre-booked hotel. Relax and make yourself home!
• In the afternoon, we’ll head towards Cherrapunji the most rainy place in the world, also known as the "Scotland of the East"! This will be a 60 km drive, and will take about 2 hours. Enjoy the scenic drive filled with green valleys, snow-covered hills, and drifting clouds!
• Once you're there, we’ll take you on a sightseeing tour at:
  • Seven Sisters Falls: Marvel at the seven streams of water as they cascade down side by side! Don’t forget to click pictures of the mist that surrounds this waterfall!
  • Mawsmai Cave: This limestone cave houses beautiful stalagmites and natural chambers.
  • Thangkharang Park: Capture the sweeping views of the Bangladesh plains that this park provides you!
• As this sightseeing tour concludes, you’ll be driven back to your hotel for an overnight stay.

Waterfall visibility, valley views and cave access can vary according to rainfall, fog, weather and local operating conditions. Comfortable footwear is recommended for Mawsmai Cave and other walking areas.

• Treat yourself to some delicious breakfast at the hotel in the morning.
• Next, we’ll drive you to what’s deemed the cleanest village in Asia, Mawlynnong! Once you get there, walk among its bamboo-lined lanes to get a unique experience. Also, enjoy the local Khasi culture through bamboo huts, beautiful waterfalls, and flower gardens.
• Also, explore the Jingmaham Living Root Bridge, where tree roots are woven into strong natural bridges!
• After you’re done with the tour of this village, we'll drive you towards Dawki, a 34 km ride. Once you get there, take a thrilling boat ride on the crystal-clear water of the Umngot River. Take pictures of the breathtaking views all around you!
• After this, return to your hotel in the evening to get a restful night of sleep.

Boating on the Umngot River depends on weather, river conditions, water levels, local permissions and operating hours. Water clarity can vary according to the season and recent rainfall.

• Enjoy breakfast in the morning. On this last day of your trip, the first half will be spent sightseeing in Shillong.
• You’d be driven to the Japanese-style garden of Lady Hydari Park. Enjoy the manicured lawns, flower beds, and a mini zoo that is there. The rose bloom here is really picturesque and makes for a perfect backdrop for a quick photo session.
