Why Visit Gujarat
Few states pack this much into one trip. You can pray at a Jyotirlinga on the Arabian Sea in the morning and be on a lion safari the next day.
- Gujarat has the longest coastline in India. A 2025 re-measurement puts it at 2,340.62 km, up from the 1,600 km figure used earlier.
- Asiatic lions are the pride of Gujarat. The Saurashtra region of Gujarat is the only place in the world where they live in the wild. The 2025 lion census counted 891 lions, up from 674 in 2020, spread across 11 districts. Jeep safaris in Gir run from 16 October to 15 June.
- The Statue of Unity (statue of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel) at Ekta Nagar is 182 metres tall. Gujarat Tourism lists it as the world’s tallest statue.
- Don’t miss the White Salt Desert of the Rann of Kutch, where the annual Rann Utsav is celebrated with folk dances, music, crafts and local cuisine.
- Gujarat has four UNESCO World Heritage Sites: Champaner-Pavagadh, Rani ki Vav (Patan), the Historic City of Ahmedabad and Dholavira.
- For eco-tourism, there are the wetlands of Nal Sarovar, the Wild Ass Sanctuary in the Little Rann of Kutch and the Marine National Park near Jamnagar.

- Full moon nights book out first. If your dates are fixed around one, book early.
- You need a permit to enter the White Rann. Get it online at rannpermit.gujarat.gov.in or at the Bhirandiyara checkpost on the way.
- Nights in the Rann are cold in December and January. Pack a proper jacket.
Gujarat Tour Package Price
The price of a Gujarat tour package depends mainly on the number of days, hotel category and season. Based on our current packages (per person, twin sharing):
| Trip Length | Price Range |
|---|---|
| 3 Days / 2 Nights | ₹12,500 to ₹16,500 |
| 4 to 5 Days | ₹18,500 to ₹19,500 |
| 6 to 7 Days | ₹18,500 to ₹32,500 |
| 8 to 15 Days | ₹30,500 to ₹58,500 |
These are starting prices and depend on travel dates and hotel availability. Hotel rates in Gujarat are usually higher during Navratri, Diwali, the Christmas-New Year week and Rann Utsav full moon dates, so a trip in those weeks costs more. We also offer packages with flights or train travel from your city.
Best Time to Go for the Gujarat Trip
The best time to visit Gujarat depends on the activities you want to do. Most tourists prefer to come here in winter, from October to March. These months have pleasant weather for sightseeing and host many cultural events, so this is a good time to choose Gujarat holiday packages.
Besides the peak season, there are other times too when you can visit the land of lions. Here’s the complete overview:
Winter (October to March): Best Time to Visit
Days are pleasant, with temperatures anywhere from about 12°C to 29°C. In Kutch, night temperatures in December and January can drop to around 2°C to 5°C, so carry warm clothes for the Rann.
Top Things to Do in Gujarat in Winter
- Visit Dwarka, Somnath Temple and Champaner-Pavagadh.
- Take part in the Rann Utsav (1 November 2026 to 7 March 2027) and enjoy the cultural performances, moonlit desert views and crafts.

Monsoon (July to September)
The rain cools the weather, though it stays humid. One of the good things about visiting during this period is that places are less crowded, so you can enjoy your Gujarat sightseeing in a calmer environment. Avoid swimming and boat rides when the sea is rough, and check weather alerts before driving on coastal roads. Gir jungle safaris stay closed in this season.
Top Things to Do in Gujarat during Monsoon
- Visit Saputara, one of the best hill stations in Gujarat. In the monsoon, it is covered in green.
- Enjoy the Saputara Monsoon Festival held here during the rains.
- See the Gira Waterfalls near Waghai, about 49 km from Saputara. It is also a good picnic spot for families.
- Visit Polo Forest in Sabarkantha district for camping, trekking, cycling and old temple ruins.
Summer (April to June)
The weather can get very hot, often above 40°C. It suits tourists on a budget, as hotels in Gujarat are cheaper in this season.
Top Things to Do in Gujarat in Summer
- Visit Mandvi Beach and Diu in the early morning or evening, when it is cooler.
- Try Kesar mangoes from the Gir and Junagadh area, which are in season in May and June.
- Book an early-morning safari in Gir (6 AM to 9 AM from March), which stays open till 15 June.

Somnath Temple
Somnath is the first of the twelve Jyotirlingas of Lord Shiva. Devotees make sure to visit this temple when they are in Gujarat. The evening sound and light show is not held in the monsoon; check the current timing on somnath.org before you go. Sasan Gir is 45 to 60 km away depending on the route, and Diu is 85 to 90 km, so the three are easy to combine in one trip.

It is about 90 km from Vadodara and 200 km from Ahmedabad, and Ekta Nagar has its own railway station. Plan around Mondays: as per Gujarat Tourism, the statue is closed that day and open from Tuesday to Sunday, 8 AM to 6 PM, with a laser light and sound show from 7:30 PM.

- Aina Mahal: A palace famous for its hall of mirrors, with walls and ceilings decorated with Venetian glass, gilded mirror frames and handcrafted chandeliers.
- Kutch Museum: The oldest museum in Gujarat (founded in 1877), showing the history and culture of Kutch.
- Prag Mahal: Next to Aina Mahal, with Gothic arches and Corinthian pillars. The walls are decorated with animal trophies and antique artwork.
- Mandvi Beach: About 60 km from Bhuj, good for a relaxed beach day, with the Vijay Vilas Palace nearby.

Diu
Diu is not part of Gujarat. It is part of the Union Territory of Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu, but it is reached through Gujarat and fits easily into a Somnath and Gir tour. Diu Fort and Nagoa Beach are the main attractions.

How to Reach Gujarat
Gujarat is well connected by air, rail and road. Here’s a quick guide to reach the western state.
By Air:
Gujarat has several airports, and Ahmedabad is the main hub. Major airports are:

- Jamnagar, Porbandar and Keshod: Smaller airports closer to Dwarka, Somnath and Gir. Flights here are limited, so check current schedules.
Diu Airport is outside Gujarat, in the Union Territory of Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu, but it is the closest airport for Diu and useful for Somnath and Gir.
By Train:
Gujarat has an extensive railway network connecting it to almost all parts of India. You can book tickets online on the IRCTC website. Major railway stations include:

By Road:
The state has a well-connected road network with highways linking it to neighbouring states. NH-48 connects Gujarat with Mumbai in the south and with Rajasthan and Delhi in the north.
By Bus:
Gujarat State Road Transport Corporation (GSRTC) runs buses across the state. Private operators run Volvo, sleeper and other deluxe buses on the main routes.
By Car:

Gujarat Travel Tips for a Memorable Trip
Follow these tips to get the most out of your Gujarat trip with family and friends:
- Enjoy the Festivals: Navratri (11 to 19 October 2026) is the best time to see Garba and Dandiya Raas, community gatherings, folk music and traditional costumes. It is one of the major festivals in Gujarat.
- Plan in Advance: Gujarat is large and its tourist places are far apart, so plan your itinerary to avoid last-minute hassle. You can book your Gujarat trip with us, and we will take care of the complete travel arrangements.
- Book Permits Early: Gir Jungle Safari permits are sold only online, and weekend slots sell out. The White Rann needs a separate entry permit.
- Liquor Rules: Gujarat is a dry state. Visitors from other states and foreign tourists can apply for a liquor e-permit on the official portal (eps.gujarat.gov.in).
- Temple Rules: Mobile phones, cameras and smartwatches are not allowed inside Somnath Temple; free lockers are available at the cloak room. Dress modestly at all major temples.
- Art and Crafts: Do not forget to explore the heritage and textile crafts of Gujarat. Gujarat is famous for textiles like Patola, Bandhani, Lehariya, Dhamadka, Ajrakh and Mashru. Also look for Sadeli, a craft in which fine geometric patterns are inlaid on wooden boxes and furniture.
- Book Hotels in Advance: Hotels in Gujarat range from budget to mid-range and luxury. You will also find budget guesthouses, Dharamshalas and tents for the Rann Utsav. Book early, as hotels fill up in peak season.
- Free to Nominal Entry Spots: Sabarmati Ashram and Kankaria Lake are free or low-cost, and ASI sites like Sun Temple Modhera and Rani ki Vav Patan charge a small entry fee.
