Frequently Asked Questions

How much does a Puri trip cost?

Ans:

The cost of a Puri trip varies with accommodation, travel expenses and activities. With Namaste India Trip, the 5-day Jagannath Puri Yatra Tour Package starts from Rs 12,999 per person on twin sharing, covering hotel, cab and sightseeing as per the itinerary. Monument entrance fees are extra. During the Rath Yatra period rates increase, so book early.

What is the best time to visit Jagannath Puri?

Ans:

October to March is the best time overall to visit Jagannath Puri, when the weather is cool and pleasant. The annual Rath Yatra (July 5, 2027) is the most spiritually significant time. Crowds are very large then, so book hotels 3 to 4 months in advance.

How many days are needed for Jagannath Puri?

Ans:

A visit to Jagannath Puri can be planned for 2 to 3 days to cover the Jagannath Temple and the beach. If you also want Konark Sun Temple, Chilika Lake and Bhubaneswar, plan 4 nights and 5 days, as in this package.

Is this Puri tour package suitable for senior citizens?

Ans:

Yes. Travel is by private cab. The tiring parts are the temple queue, the barefoot walk inside the temple and the climb at the Khandagiri and Udayagiri caves. The caves can be skipped. Tell us at the time of booking so the days can be planned around it.

Does the package include local transport in Puri?

Ans:

Yes. A private cab covers the airport or station pick-up, the transfers between cities and the sightseeing listed in the itinerary. Driver allowance, parking and fuel are included.

What is the entry time of Jagannath Temple Puri?

Ans:

Odisha Tourism lists Shree Jagannath Temple timings as 5:00 AM to 11:00 PM, varying with rituals. Timings change on festival days and Ekadashi, so always verify at shreejagannatha.in before your visit.

Can non-Hindus visit Jagannath Temple Puri?

Ans:

Non-Hindus are not permitted inside Shree Jagannath Temple. They can see the temple from outside, from Bada Danda and the Heritage Corridor. During Rath Yatra, the chariot procession on Bada Danda is open to everyone, and non-Hindus can watch and even pull the chariot ropes.

Can I see Rath Yatra with this package?

Ans:

Yes, if your travel dates match the festival. On Rath Yatra day there is no darshan inside the temple, because the deities are on the chariots. Package rates are higher in this period.

What is the Jagannath Puri tour package cost from Delhi?

Ans:

Namaste India Trip's 5-day Jagannath Puri package starts from Rs 12,999 per person from Bhubaneswar. If you are travelling from Delhi, add train or flight cost separately. The Purushottam Express runs from New Delhi to Puri, and there are flights from Delhi to Bhubaneswar. Fares change often, so check before booking. Contact us for a complete Delhi-to-Puri package with transport included.

What is Chilika Lake famous for?

Ans:

Chilika Lake, about 50 km from Puri, is Asia's largest brackish water lagoon and a Ramsar Wetland of International Importance. It is famous for Irrawaddy dolphins near Satapada and for the migratory birds that arrive in winter. The lake connects with the Bay of Bengal through a narrow channel.

Is Puri part of Char Dham?

Ans:

Yes. Jagannath Puri (Purushottama Kshetra) is one of the four Char Dham pilgrimage sites of Hinduism, along with Badrinath (Uttarakhand), Dwarka (Gujarat) and Rameswaram (Tamil Nadu).

What other places can be visited near Puri?

Ans:

Beyond the package itinerary, Gundicha Temple (about 3 km from Jagannath Temple, where the deities stay during Rath Yatra), Raghurajpur Heritage Crafts Village (14 km from Puri, famous for Pattachitra paintings) and Sakshi Gopal Temple (on the Bhubaneswar to Puri highway) are worth visiting.
