Do Dham Yatra Packages 2026
If you are short on time, a Do Dham Yatra lets you visit two of the Char Dhams instead of the full Char Dham circuit tour. You can choose either Kedarnath & Badrinath or Gangotri & Yamunotri. By road it takes 5 to 7 days from Haridwar; by helicopter from Dehradun, Kedarnath and Badrinath can be covered in 1 to 4 days.
Do Dham Tour Packages 2026
Road packages on this page start at INR 28,500 per person (Gangotri Yamunotri, 6 days/5 nights, twin sharing). The Badrinath Kedarnath road package is 8 days/7 nights from INR 29,500, and helicopter packages run from INR 1,35,000 for a same-day trip to INR 1,45,000 for 4 days/3 nights.

What Is Do Dham Yatra?
The Do Dham Yatra covers two sacred shrines in the Garhwal Himalayas. Tour operators usually sell it in one of these two combinations:
1. Kedarnath & Badrinath Trip - For devotees of Lord Shiva (a Jyotirlinga) and Lord Vishnu (Badri Narayan)
2. Gangotri & Yamunotri Trip - For devotees of Goddess Ganga and Goddess Yamuna, close to where both rivers begin
Both journeys are easier to complete than the full Char Dham circuit. By road, either one takes about 5 to 7 days, compared with about 10-12 days for the full tour.
Why Choose Do Dham Yatra?
For many pilgrims, going to Char Dhams all at once may not be possible. There may be budget constraints or a limited number of holidays for the visit. A Do Dham trip has these advantages:
It's ideal for senior citizens or those with limited time
The tour is of shorter duration (5-7 days vs. 10-12 for Char Dham)
Helicopter packages are available for Kedarnath and Badrinath
It is more budget-friendly and easier to customize
Kedarnath Badrinath Tour Package Highlights
This is the most popular Do Dham package. Both temples draw lakhs of devotees of Lord Shiva and Lord Vishnu every season.
Kedarnath Temple
It's one of the 12 Jyotirlingas
It's located at 11,755 ft (3,583 m) in the Rudraprayag district
Reaching here requires a 16 km trek from Gaurikund (road vehicles stop at Sonprayag, and pilgrims continue to Gaurikund by local shuttle), or a helicopter, pony or palki
Temple opened on 22 April 2026 and closes on Bhai Dooj (expected around 10-11 November 2026). In winter, worship moves to Omkareshwar Temple, Ukhimath
Part of the Panch Kedar circuit - one of five sacred Shiva shrines in Garhwal
Bhairavnath Temple stands on a ridge just above the main shrine
Badrinath Temple
One of the 108 Divya Desams
Dedicated to Lord Vishnu (Badri Narayan)
Located on the banks of Alaknanda River at ~3,133 m (10,279 ft) in Chamoli district
Easily accessible by road - no trek required
Temple opened on 23 April 2026. BKTC announces the closing date on Vijayadashami; Badrinath usually closes last, in mid to late November. In winter, worship moves to Narasimha Temple, Jyotirmath
Mana Village, now signposted as the First Indian Village, is about 3-4 km from the temple and worth visiting for Bhim Pul and Vyas Gufa

Road vs Helicopter: Which Should You Choose?
| Factor | By Road | By Helicopter |

| Duration | 5-8 days | 1-4 days |
| Cost | From INR 28,500 per person | INR 1,35,000-1,45,000 per person |
| Physical Effort | High - long drives + Kedarnath 16 km trek | Minimal - short walks only |
| Best For | Fit pilgrims, budget travellers, those who want the full experience | People who want to avoid the trek and long drives, once a doctor has cleared them for high altitude |
| Weather Risk | Moderate - road closures in monsoon | High - flights cancel frequently due to bad weather |
| Darshan Quality | More time at each temple | Sugam Darshan slip can be arranged (temple fee extra) |
| Scenery | Full mountain road experience, valleys, rivers | Aerial Himalayan views |
| Group Size | Flexible - any size | Limited - usually 6 per helicopter; operators set weight and baggage limits |
Do Dham Yatra by Helicopter: How Booking Works
Charter packages from Dehradun: Helicopters leave from Sahastradhara helipad in Dehradun. Our same-day package covers Kedarnath and Badrinath in one day, and the 3-day and 4-day packages add hotel nights. Flight and reporting times depend on the operator and the weather. Each operator also sets its own passenger-weight and baggage limits; ask for them in writing before you pay.
Kedarnath shuttle: BKTC states that shuttle tickets from Guptkashi, Phata and Sersi can be booked only on IRCTC HeliYatra (heliyatra.irctc.co.in). Check the live fare there before paying. Websites or agents selling "confirmed" shuttle tickets outside that portal are a common scam.
Weather: Flights are held or cancelled when cloud or rain closes the valley, most often from late June to August. Keep a spare day if you fly.
Best Time for Do Dham Yatra
The Yatra season usually begins in April or early May and continues until the temples close for winter in October-November.
| Season | Months | Conditions | Verdict |
|---|---|---|---|
| Peak Season | May - June | Pleasant weather, cold nights, heavy crowds | Best for first-timers but book hotels and helicopter seats as early as possible |
| Post-Monsoon | September - October | Clear skies, lush valleys, fewer pilgrims, price dip in accommodation | Fewer crowds than May-June; a good window for seniors and repeat visitors |
| Monsoon | July - August | Landslides, floods, frequent road blockages | Avoid - especially risky for road travellers |
| Winter | November - April | Temples closed; worship continues at the winter seats (Ukhimath, Jyotirmath, Mukhba, Kharsali) | Closed season |
Tip: For elderly pilgrims we recommend September: crowds are thinner than in May-June and the roads have been repaired after the rains. Skies are usually clearer after the monsoon, so helicopter weather holds tend to be fewer than in July-August.
2026 Opening & Closing Dates
| Temple | 2026 Opening Date | 2026 Closing Date | Closing Festival |
|---|---|---|---|
| Yamunotri | 19 April 2026 | ~10-11 November 2026 | Bhai Dooj |
| Gangotri | 19 April 2026 | ~9-10 November 2026 | Around Diwali (Annakut) |
| Kedarnath | 22 April 2026 | ~10-11 November 2026 | Bhai Dooj |
| Badrinath | 23 April 2026 | Mid-late November 2026 | Announced on Vijayadashami (set by BKTC) |
Closing dates are expected dates, not confirmed ones. Each temple committee announces its own date; for Kedarnath and Badrinath the announcement comes on Vijayadashami. Verify at badrinath-kedarnath.gov.in before booking your return travel.

Practical answers about Do Dham Yatra Packages 2026
How many days are required for Do Dham Yatra?
Ans: Usually, 5 to 7 days are needed for road travel from Haridwar. The exact duration depends on the route and travel mode. Helicopter packages can complete the Yatra in 1-4 days.
Can I cover Kedarnath without trekking?
Ans: Yes, you can skip the trek entirely and opt for helicopter service from Phata, Sersi, or Guptkashi helipads (shuttle tickets only on IRCTC HeliYatra). Pony and Palki (palanquin) services are also available from Gaurikund.
Are Do Dham helicopter tours safe for senior citizens?
Ans: A helicopter removes the 16 km Kedarnath trek and most of the long drives, but not the altitude. Senior citizens with heart conditions, high BP, or respiratory issues must get a doctor's clearance before booking. The state health department asks elderly pilgrims and people with heart, breathing or sugar problems to get a medical check-up before the yatra. Flights can also be held in bad weather, and operators set weight and baggage limits.
Can I customize my Do Dham Yatra package?
Ans: Yes. You can change the starting city, number of days, stopovers, hotel category and mode of travel, subject to hotel and helicopter availability on your dates. Contact us for a tailored quote.
Are medical services available on the route?
Ans: Yes, first-aid kits, oxygen support, and contact with nearby hospitals are available. SDRF (State Disaster Response Force) posts are staffed on the Kedarnath trek route. For 2026 the state set up 33 health screening points and 25 medical relief posts along the yatra routes (All India Radio, March 2026). In serious emergencies, inform the nearest checkpoint or SDRF post; evacuation, including by helicopter, is decided by the authorities based on the patient and the weather.
Is Yatra registration mandatory for Do Dham in 2026?
Ans: Yes - registration is compulsory for all four temples. Register at registrationandtouristcare.uk.gov.in before travelling. You receive a Yatra Pass with a QR code; carry it printed or on your phone. Checkpoints at Sonprayag (Kedarnath route) and on the Badrinath highway verify it. Pilgrims without registration can be stopped at these checkpoints. Offline registration is available on the spot until the last day of the yatra, according to the portal FAQ.
Which Do Dham combination should I choose: Kedarnath-Badrinath or Gangotri-Yamunotri?
Ans: Choose Kedarnath-Badrinath if you want darshan at a Jyotirlinga and a Divya Desam and can manage the 16 km Kedarnath trek, or can pay for a helicopter. Choose Gangotri-Yamunotri if walking is the main concern: the only trek is 6 km to Yamunotri, although it is steep, and Gangotri is reached by road.
What is the Do Dham Yatra cost by helicopter in 2026?
Ans: Our same-day Kedarnath-Badrinath helicopter package starts at INR 1,35,000 per person. The 3-day packages start at INR 1,35,000 and INR 1,40,000, and the 4-day package at INR 1,45,000. Prices include helicopter flights, meals, transfers and darshan assistance; the temple's Sugam Darshan fee is extra. These are starting prices as of 24 September 2026, per person on twin sharing.
Is Do Dham Yatra possible in monsoon (July-August)?
Ans: Technically the temples are open, but travel is risky. July and August bring heavy landslides, especially on the Rudraprayag-Gaurikund road and Uttarkashi-Gangotri road. Road closures can last multiple days. For road travellers, July-August should be avoided. Helicopter Yatras are possible in monsoon but flights are frequently cancelled due to cloud cover; always keep buffer days if travelling in this window.
How do I book a Kedarnath helicopter ticket?
Ans: Kedarnath shuttle tickets from Sersi, Phata and Guptkashi can be booked only on IRCTC HeliYatra (heliyatra.irctc.co.in), according to BKTC. Complete your yatra registration first. Do not pay agents or websites that promise confirmed shuttle tickets outside IRCTC.
