Adi Kailash Yatra Tour Packages 2026
The Adi Kailash Yatra is a sacred pilgrimage to the revered “Chhota Kailash,” located in the remote Himalayan region of Uttarakhand near the Indo–China border. Adi Kailash is considered one of the most holy abodes of Lord Shiva and holds deep spiritual significance for devotees. The journey offers a unique blend of devotion and natural beauty, surrounded by untouched mountains, rivers, and peaceful valleys. A key highlight of this Yatra is Om Parvat, where the naturally formed “ॐ” symbol on the mountain attracts pilgrims from all over the country.
Our Adi Kailash tour packages are planned to make the journey smooth and accessible, while still keeping the spiritual essence intact. The route passes through scenic Himalayan locations such as Pithoragarh, Dharchula, Gunji, and nearby remote villages, giving travelers a close look at mountain life and raw natural landscapes. The journey includes travel assistance, stays, and guided support throughout the route.

Why Choose Namaste India Trip
- Ministry of Tourism Approved Since 2009 Namaste India Trip Pvt Ltd is recognised by the Government of India's Ministry of Tourism, ISO certified, and listed on the NIDHI (National Integrated Database of Hospitality Industry) portal. Our credentials are verifiable — not just a badge.
- ILP Permit — 100% Handled by Our Team The Inner Line Permit (ILP) at SDM Dharchula is mandatory for every pilgrim and the single biggest logistical concern on this yatra. Our ground team manages your entire application — Aadhaar copies, medical certificate coordination, police verification, and submission. You do not spend a day at a government office.
- Private Vehicle Throughout — Not Shared Transport Innova Crysta for groups up to 4, Tempo Traveller for larger groups. Your vehicle does not get shared mid-route. Beyond Dharchula, only private SUVs are permitted on BRO roads — we ensure this is pre-arranged, not sorted on arrival.
- Acclimatisation Built Into Every Itinerary A planned overnight at Gunji (approx. 3,300m) before proceeding to Jyolingkong (4,572m) is not filler time — it is medically essential. We carry a basic oxygen cylinder and high-altitude first aid kit on all road-based departures.
- KMVN-Coordinated Stays Accommodation is at KMVN rest houses and pre-verified private guesthouses in Dharchula, Gunji, and Kalapani — booked in advance, not arranged upon arrival.
- 624/7 Trip Coordinator Support A dedicated coordinator is reachable by phone throughout the yatra. Emergency rescheduling, weather-related plan changes, and any mid-trip assistance are managed from our Dehradun operations base.
Places You Will Visit on the Adi Kailash Yatra
- Adi Kailash (Chhota Kailash) — 5,945m The crown of this yatra. Lord Shiva's earthly abode in the Kumaon Himalayas, considered a sacred mirror of Mount Kailash in Tibet. Pilgrims who behold this peak are said to attain spiritual liberation.
- Parvati Sarovar (Gauri Kund) — Jyolingkong A sacred glacial lake at the base of Adi Kailash. According to Shiva Purana, this is where Goddess Parvati bathed before her union with Lord Shiva. A holy dip here is one of the key rituals of the yatra.
- Om Parvat — Nabhidhang, approx. 3,600m A peak whose snow naturally forms the "ॐ" symbol, visible on clear mornings between 7–9:30 AM. Best viewed from the Nabhidhang viewpoint. Considered among the most spiritually charged sights in the Himalayas.
- Kalapani — Source of Kali River, approx. 3,600m A restricted-zone site near the India–Nepal–Tibet trijunction. The Kali Mata temple here sits at the precise origin of the Kali (Sharda) river. Access is possible only with a valid ILP.
- Vyas Cave & Pandav Fort — near Jyolingkong Located 1–2 km from the Adi Kailash base, these mythological sites are believed to be where Maharishi Vyas composed the Mahabharata and where the Pandavas rested during their final journey.
- Gunji Village — approx. 3,300m A high-altitude border village and mandatory overnight stop. Acclimatisation here before proceeding to Jyolingkong (4,572m) is critical. The village offers a rare glimpse of Kumaoni border culture.
- Dharchula — Gateway to the Yatra The last town before the restricted zone. ILP registration happens here. Last ATM, last mobile network, last pharmacy — everything beyond Dharchula must be planned from here.

Registration & Permit
An Inner Line Permit (ILP) is mandatory for every Indian citizen travelling beyond Dharchula into the Vyas Valley. Adi Kailash falls in a sensitive Indo-Tibetan border zone — the permit ensures your safety is tracked by local administration at 10 checkposts along the route.
Who Issues It: Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Office, Dharchula — or through KMVN (Kumaon Mandal Vikas Nigam). Official portal: kmvn.in
Documents Required:
- Aadhaar Card — original + 4 self-attested photocopies
- 4 passport-size photographs
- Medical fitness certificate (BP, ECG — from any registered doctor or govt hospital)
- Police verification form (or passport photocopy as substitute)

Important:
- Minimum age for ILP: 18 years

FAQ
Q1. What is the cost of the Adi Kailash Yatra package in 2026?
Ans. The road package starts at ₹48,500 per person on twin sharing (8 nights/9 days from Kathgodam). The helicopter package starts at ₹58,500 (4 nights/5 days from Pithoragarh). The extended helicopter package including Mt. Kailash views and Old Lipulekh Pass is ₹65,500. Prices include accommodation, meals, transport, and ILP assistance.
Q2. Is registration mandatory for Adi Kailash Yatra 2026?
Ans. Yes. An Inner Line Permit (ILP) is legally mandatory for all Indian citizens to travel beyond Dharchula. It is issued by the SDM Office, Dharchula. When you book with us, our ground team handles the complete registration — you only need to provide documents.
Q3. When does the 2026 Adi Kailash Yatra season open and close?
Ans. Phase 1 (main summer) opened on May 8, 2026 and runs till mid-June. Phase 2 (post-monsoon) runs mid-September to mid-October. The route is closed November to April due to snowfall, and July–August travel is not recommended due to active landslides.
Q4. Is the Yatra suitable for senior citizens?
Ans. Yes. The BRO road now reaches Jyolingkong (Adi Kailash base) — no mandatory trekking is required. Senior citizens in reasonable health can complete this yatra comfortably. KMVN's practical upper age limit is 70 years. A medical fitness certificate is required for the ILP.
Q5. What documents are needed for the Adi Kailash permit?
Ans. You need: Aadhaar Card (original + 4 photocopies), 4 passport-size photos, a medical fitness certificate (from any registered doctor), a police verification form or passport photocopy, and a notarised indemnity affidavit on ₹30 stamp paper. Our team provides the exact formats.
Q6. Can I see both Adi Kailash and Om Parvat in one trip?
Ans. Yes. All our packages include both. Adi Kailash Darshan is from Jyolingkong, and Om Parvat is viewed from the Nabhidhang viewpoint. The two sites are covered on separate days, each with an early morning start for optimal visibility.
Q7. What is the best time for Om Parvat Darshan?
Ans. The "ॐ" snow symbol on Om Parvat is clearest between 7:00 AM and 9:30 AM. Cloud cover builds from the valley by 10–10:30 AM and can completely block the view. All our itineraries schedule departure from Gunji by 5:45–6:00 AM on Om Parvat day.
Q8. Are there any hidden charges?
Ans. No. Lunches, personal expenses, travel insurance, medical certificate fee, and any costs due to weather disruption are listed explicitly in our exclusions. There are no charges added after booking confirmation.
Q9. Can foreigners or NRIs do the Adi Kailash Yatra?
Ans. The standard ILP is available to Indian citizens only. Foreign nationals and NRI cardholders (OCI/PIO) require a Protected Area Permit (PAP) from the Ministry of Home Affairs — this must be applied for at least 2–3 months in advance and is a separate, more complex process.
Q10. How far in advance should I book the 2026 package?
Ans. For Phase 1 (May–June): 8–10 weeks in advance. For Phase 2 (September–October): 6–8 weeks. Helicopter slots fill faster — book as early as possible for the helicopter package. Our team responds within 2 hours on business days.
