If you are a history buff, chances are that you have heard about the Imperial Citadel of Thang Long, which has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2010. Situated in Hanoi and sprawling nearly 46 acres, the place is a testimony to the numerous political changes that have happened to the country over the years. For 13 centuries, the place served as the administrative nucleus of Vietnam. It is open every day of the week from 8 AM to 5 PM except Mondays. Once you are there, don’t forget to buy a postcard for your friends and relatives.

Discover the Wonders of Hoi An

Hoi An and the city’s notable attraction, ‘Old Town Hoi An ’, is rustic and simple, perfect for those who wish to have a rustic and uninterrupted vacation. For those looking to experiment with their culinary tastes, this city has a wide range of options. Don’t forget to try Cau Lao, a noodle dish consisting of pork, spices, and flavourful herbs.

See Diverse Flora and Fauna at Phong Nha-Ke Bang National Park

The fact that this place is relatively new to tourism makes it delightful, raw, and pristine. Apart from that, the place boasts several caves and underground rivers. The Karst Mountains are another must-visit destination of this beautiful place, considered to be one of the oldest on the continent.

Step Back into the Past at the War Remnants Museum

Situated in Ho Chi Minh City, the Museum is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Vietnam. However, the place is not for the faint-hearted because it remains a brutal reminder of the horrors of the Vietnam War. A visit to the Museum would be incomplete without visiting the ‘tiger cages’, in which the Vietnamese government kept their political prisoners during the War. It is open every day between 7:30 AM and 5 P.M.

Witness Diverse Biodiversity at Cat Tien National Park

This national park hosts a range of biodiversity, from seasonal tropical forests to the stump-tailed macaque and leopard cat. The site is especially famous for its primates. Don’t forget to check out their Wild Gibbon Trek, one of the most exciting packages of the Park. However, you have to book well in advance for this. The same is applicable for those looking forward to an exciting time in the National Park since only a limited number of guests are permitted to enter it each day.  It is open every day of the week between 7:30 AM and 6:30 PM

Ride back in History at Cu Chi Tunnels

The Cu Chi tunnels are situated in Ho Chi Minh City. They are a series of underground interconnected tunnels that were used during the Vietnam War for military purposes. A visit to these tunnels will surely prove to be a ride back in history. As the locus of intense activity, the tunnels are said to have had numerous soldiers living inside them, working and planning their strategy against the American troops. It is 121 kilometers long. The tunnels are open daily between 9 AM and 5 PM. Do note, however, that a visit to this place would involve intense physical activity as you would have to crawl through the tunnels.
