This garden is a marvelous human creation showcasing the aesthetic potential of urban and industrial wastes. These waste materials have been transformed into real things of beauty. The Rock Gardens had been a brainchild of Dr. Nek Chand who had been road inspector in the city’s Engineering Department. Next, we visit the Sukhna Lake. This pellucid water body covering an area of about 3 sq km is located at the base of the Shivalik Ranges and is a great place to enjoy boating, lakeside strolling and soothing breeze in the morning and evening. After Sukhna Lake, we proceed to our next sightseeing destination; the Zakir Hussain Rose Garden; a 30 acres of sprawling green land dotted with about 50, 000 rose shrubs of over 16,000 varieties. It is the biggest of its kinds in the whole of Asia. It is indeed a memorable visual treat to watch those lovely blooms. After Rose Garden, now it’s a time to move towards the last visit of the day, the Open Hand Monument. This is a symbolic architectural piece created by famous architect Le Corbusier.
