Naini Lake

Naini Lake, also called Nainital Lake, is the main place to visit and a popular spot near Kainchi Dham. It is surrounded by seven beautiful hills and attracts travelers from all over the world. Many tourists come here, so it's known as one of the most visited lakes in India.

The name “Nainital” comes from two words- “Naina” means eye, and “tal” means lake. In Hindu mythology, when Sati jumped into the fire, her eyes fell here, and the lake formed at this spot.  Because of this, the lake is very special to many people. The boat ride is a relaxing and gives a unique experience that visitors shouldn’t miss. The views from the boat are wonderful for taking photos.

Bhowali

Bhowali is a peaceful town in Kumaon, located 1704 meters above sea level. This place is well known for growing great fruits like apples, peaches, strawberries, plums, and apricots that are sent to many places.

The views in Bhowali are beautiful, and many travelers come here for camping, trekking, and enjoying nature. The place is peaceful and nice, so it’s good to visit anytime. You can often see animals like jackals, kakkar, Himalayan eagles, and pheasants here.

Pangot

Pangot is a small and beautiful village approximately 28 km away from Kainchi Dham. It’s well known for its forests and a variety of birds. When you reach Pangot it’s like entering a peaceful mountain village, away from all the city noise. If you enjoy birdwatching, you’ll love this place because more than 300 bird species can be seen nearby. Birds like woodpeckers, thrushes, and sometimes even eagles can be seen here. If you're looking for peace or enjoy spending time in nature, Pangot is a wonderful place to visit.

Bhimtal

The town of Bhimtal is named after Bhima, one of the well-known Pandava brothers in the Mahabharata. It is famous for its beautiful lake. People love it for its wonderful surroundings, and it is located at 1,370 metres above sea level. In the middle of Bhimtal Lake, there’s a small island with a big aquarium. Earlier, this aquarium was a restaurant. This lake is surrounded by natural beauty, has lovely views, and is well connected by road. It’s a good place to visit in any season.

How to Reach Kainchi Dham from Delhi?

By Road

Road trip from Delhi to Kainchi Dham takes around 6 to 7 hours and is easiest way to reach there. You can either drive yourself or take taxi. You can also travel from Delhi to Haldwani by bus or train then take a taxi from Haldwani to Kainchi Dham.

By Train

If you’re traveling by train, Kathgodam is the nearest station. Trains like the Ranikhet Express or Uttar Sampark Kranti Express take about 6 hours from Delhi to Kathgodam. From there Kainchi Dham is 43 km away. You can easily find taxis or shared cabs outside the station. Road to Kainchi Dham is good and has lovely views of hills and forests.

By Flight

If you want to travel by flight nearest airport to Kainchi Dham is Pantnagar Airport, around 70 km away. It is a small airport with limited flights. From there you can take a taxi or a local bus to reach Kainchi Dham.

What to Pack?

If You Feel Dizzy in the Hills

Remember to carry motion sickness tablets (only if your doctor says it’s okay), some vomit bags, lemon candies, a small towel, and water to help you stay comfortable and fresh during the trip.

On June 15th, there’s a Bhandara, and thousands of devotees come. It’s better to skip that day unless you’re okay with big crowds.

You’ll find only a few ATMs around, and they don’t always work. Many shops won’t take a card or UPI, so make sure you have some cash with you.
