Our luxury Char Dham package is for travellers who want more comfort on a long road trip. You get the best available hotel at each stop, vegetarian meals and a comfortable vehicle for the whole route.
The budget package covers the basics with budget hotels, transportation and vegetarian meals.
Our Helicopter Chardham Yatra 2026 package takes 6 days and 5 nights and starts at INR 2,20,000 per person. It flies from the Sahastradhara helipad in Dehradun, so from Surat you fly to Dehradun first. Each passenger can weigh about 75 kg and carry about 5 kg of luggage. Flights depend on the weather.
A Do Dham yatra covers only Kedarnath and Badrinath. It suits pilgrims with less time, or anyone who wants to skip Yamunotri and Gangotri.
Our Chardham Yatra package from Surat starts at INR 43,600 per person on a double-sharing basis. It covers accommodation, meals, transportation and sightseeing as per the itinerary. Your final price depends on the travel dates, the hotel category and the length of the tour.
Our itinerary follows this route:
Surat → Dehradun or Haridwar → Rishikesh → Barkot → Janki Chatti → Yamunotri → Uttarkashi → Gangotri → Uttarkashi → Sitapur → Sonprayag → Gaurikund → Kedarnath → Pipalkoti → Joshimath → Badrinath → Srinagar → Haridwar → Delhi → Surat
| Dham | Altitude (approx.) | How you reach the temple | Winter seat |
|---|---|---|---|
| Yamunotri | 3,293 m | 6 km trek from Janki Chatti | Kharsali |
| Gangotri | 3,100 m | By road | Mukhba |
| Kedarnath | 3,580 m | 16 km trek from Gaurikund, or helicopter | Ukhimath |
| Badrinath | 3,133 m | By road | Joshimath (Narsingh Temple) |
Altitudes and trek distances are taken from the Uttarakhand Tourist Care portal.
The Chardham sites open in late April and close around Diwali.
This is the most popular time for the Char Dham Yatra. Days at the dhams are pleasant, but mornings and nights stay cold even in June. It is also the busiest period of the year, so book your hotels early.
Avoid it if you can. Heavy rain brings landslides and road blocks, and the trek paths turn slippery. If these are the only months you have, keep one or two buffer days in the plan.
Once the rain stops, the skies clear and the crowds thin out. Nights get colder in October, so pack warm layers. For senior citizens who want a quieter yatra, this is the window we would pick.
The temples are closed. Heavy snow makes the upper routes unsafe, and the deities are worshipped at their winter seats in Kharsali, Mukhba, Ukhimath and Joshimath until the temples reopen in spring.
| Dham | Opening Date 2026 | Closing Date 2026 (Tentative) |
|---|---|---|
| Yamunotri | 19 April | 11 November |
| Gangotri | 19 April | 10 November |
| Kedarnath | 22 April | 11 November |
| Badrinath | 23 April | 13 November |
Opening dates are from the Uttarakhand Tourist Care portal. The temple committees confirm the closing dates nearer the time, and they announce the 2027 opening dates early next year.
Keep these points in mind while planning your Char Dham Yatra from Surat.
Surat has no direct flight to Uttarakhand. You first reach Dehradun, Haridwar or Rishikesh, and the road journey starts from there.
There is no non-stop flight from Surat to Dehradun. You change planes once, and the total travel time depends on the connecting airport and the layover. Flights land at Jolly Grant Airport, about 20 km from Rishikesh.
Two trains run direct from Surat to Haridwar. The daily Dehradun Express (19019) takes about 27 hours, and the weekly Bandra Terminus - Haridwar Superfast (22917) runs on Wednesdays and takes about 22 hours. Timetables change, so check IRCTC before booking. From Haridwar, Rishikesh is about 25 km by bus or taxi.
Surat to Delhi is roughly 1,150 to 1,200 km by road, depending on the route. From Delhi, take a bus or taxi to Haridwar or Rishikesh, then a private vehicle to Barkot, the first stop on the Yamunotri route.
These tips will help you on the road and at the temples.
Most hotels on the Char Dham route are simple, family-run properties. Our itinerary uses hotels at Barkot, Uttarkashi, Sitapur, Pipalkoti, Badrinath and Srinagar, based on availability and your package category.
Gangotri has basic hotels and ashrams near the temple. Harsil, on the way to Gangotri, is another place to stay.
Yamunotri has GMVN tourist guest houses and private hotels. Most pilgrims stay at Barkot, Janki Chatti or Hanuman Chatti, where the options are basic.
Stays at Kedarnath are basic: GMVN cottages, tents and small guest houses. Our itinerary does not need a night here, because you return to Sitapur the same day.
At Badrinath, there are both mid-range and budget-friendly hotels. Many of them look out on the Neelkanth peak.
Nights are cold at all four dhams, even in May and June. Pack warm layers.

Fly from Surat to Jolly Grant Airport, Dehradun, or take the train to Haridwar, which means leaving Surat a day earlier. Our representative meets you at the airport or station and drives you to your pre-booked hotel in Rishikesh for the night.
After breakfast, drive to Barkot, the base for Yamunotri. If the driver takes the Mussoorie road, you can stop at Kempty Falls on the way. Overnight in Barkot.
After breakfast, drive to Janki Chatti, the last road point. The Yamunotri Temple is a 6 km uphill trek from here, or you can hire a pony, doli or palki. Pilgrims bathe in Tapt Kund, the hot spring beside the temple, and cook rice in Surya Kund to take home as prasad. After darshan of Mata Yamuna, return to Barkot for the night.
After breakfast, drive to Uttarkashi. On the way, visit the Prakateshwar Mahadev Cave, known for its natural Shiva lingam. In Uttarkashi, visit the Kashi Vishwanath Temple and the Shakti Temple before checking in for the night.
Start early. The road to Gangotri follows the Bhagirathi River and passes through Harsil. After seeking Goddess Ganga's blessings at the Gangotri Temple, drive back to Uttarkashi for the night.
This is the longest drive of the trip. You reach Sitapur, the main night stop for the Kedarnath Yatra, by evening. Sleep early, because trek day starts before sunrise.
Leave Sitapur early for Sonprayag, a short drive away. A shuttle takes you from Sonprayag to Gaurikund (about 5 km), where the 16 km trek to Kedarnath begins. You can walk or hire a pony, palki or pithu. Helicopters to Kedarnath fly from Phata, Sersi and Guptkashi and are booked on the IRCTC Heli Yatra website. After darshan of Lord Kedarnath, come back down to Gaurikund, take the shuttle to Sonprayag and drive to Sitapur for the night.
Note: A same-day return means about 32 km of walking plus the darshan queue. That is too much for most older pilgrims. Book a pony, palki or helicopter for them, or ask us to add a night at Kedarnath.
After breakfast, drive to Pipalkoti via Rudraprayag. Overnight in Pipalkoti.
After breakfast, drive to Badrinath. On the way, stop at Joshimath to visit Narsingh Temple, the winter seat of Lord Badri, and at Vishnuprayag, where the Dhauliganga meets the Alaknanda.
After checking in at Badrinath, visit Mana village, about 4 km away, to see Vyas Gufa, Ganesh Gufa, Bhim Pul and the Saraswati River. Attend the evening aarti at Badrinath Temple and stay the night in Badrinath.
Have Lord Badri's darshan early in the morning, then drive down to Srinagar in Garhwal (not the Srinagar in Kashmir). On the way, you pass Nandprayag (Nandakini + Alaknanda), Karnaprayag (Pindar + Alaknanda) and Rudraprayag (Mandakini + Alaknanda). Stop at the Dhari Devi Temple before reaching your hotel in Srinagar.
After breakfast, drive to Haridwar with a stop at Devprayag, where the Bhagirathi and Alaknanda meet to form the Ganga. In Haridwar, attend the evening Ganga Aarti at Har Ki Pauri. After dinner, drive to Delhi for an overnight stay.
After breakfast, you are dropped at the airport or railway station in Delhi for your journey back to Surat. Your Yamunotri, Gangotri, Kedarnath and Badrinath yatra ends here.
