It is in the place of Kalady that Adi Shankaracharya practiced miracles through his presence. He got the Vedas perfect and devoted his life to the preaching of the Vedic Dharma by founding four mutts at Puri, Sringeri, Dwaraka, and Joshimath. It was rediscovered in the late 19th century by the then Shankaracharya of Sringeri, and the following consecration of a temple to Sri Adi Shankara in 1910.

Two days felt short but the trip was planned really well. We reached Thrissur by afternoon and after checking in went straight to Guruvayur temple for the evening darshan, the crowd was manageable and the atmosphere was so peaceful. Next morning we left early for Athirapally falls, the water was gushing hard because of recent rains and the sound itself was calming. Had a simple Kerala meal on banana leaf near the falls, absolutely loved the taste of the fish curry. Only issue was parking near the falls took some extra time. Overall a lovely short getaway.

Second day Athirapally waterfalls dekha jo bilkul postcard jaisa lagta hai, itna zyada paani gir raha tha ki hum log bas dekhte reh gaye. Local food bhi try kiya, appam aur stew bahut tasty tha. Thoda sa traffic mila Thrissur se falls jaate waqt lekin baaki sab kuch perfect tha. Family ke saath ek achi short trip ke liye highly recommend karungi.

The next day trip to Athirapally falls was the real showstopper, the sheer volume of water falling from that height left me speechless. We also passed by small villages with lush paddy fields which was a nice bonus. Only regret is we could not stay longer near the falls.

Perfect trip for our small family with two kids. Kids enjoyed the Athirapally falls the most, they kept saying it looked like the waterfalls from cartoons. Guruvayur temple visit was peaceful even with kids around, nobody rushed us. We had home style Kerala thali for lunch which the kids finished completely, that says something. Weather was pleasant throughout, slight drizzle on day two which actually made the falls look even better. Would definitely plan a longer Kerala trip after this.

Simple, short and exactly what we needed for a year end break. Guruvayur temple in the evening had a nice quiet crowd, unlike the usual festival rush. Athirapally on day two was stunning, we stood there for almost half an hour just watching the water crash down. Local food stalls near the route sold hot pazham pori which we could not resist. Only small issue was the cab arrived slightly late on the first day but the driver made up for lost time.

A short trip that gave us more than we expected. My mother especially loved the Guruvayur temple visit, she said the atmosphere reminded her of temples from her childhood. Athirapally falls was breathtaking, water falling from that height with the surrounding hills in the background looked almost unreal. We also got to try some local sweets on our way back. The only thing I would change is having a bit more buffer time built into day two.

Loved every bit of this trip with my sister. Thrissur town has such a laid back vibe, loved the small shops selling brassware near the temple. Guruvayur darshan was peaceful and unhurried. Next day at Athirapally falls, we did a bit of a short trek down to get closer to the water and it was absolutely worth it. Had appam and vegetable stew for breakfast which was delicious. Weather stayed pleasant throughout, not too humid for October.

Couple trip and honestly it felt like a mini honeymoon. Guruvayur temple visit was calm and beautiful in the evening light. The next day, Athirapally falls left us speechless, we just sat on a rock nearby watching the water for a long time. Weather was cool, perfect January weather for sightseeing. Ondru sollanum, indha trip semma nalla irunthichu. Guruvayur temple la darshan panniyathu romba nalla feeling kudutha. Adutha naal Athirapally falls ku ponom, thanneer vera level ah vizhundhu kondu irunthuchu, paakave azhaga irundhuchu. Konjam traffic irunthuchu but adhu periya problem illa. Travelled with my parents and this trip turned out better than expected. Guruvayur temple darshan was smooth and my parents especially enjoyed the calm atmosphere there. Athirapally falls the next day was in full monsoon flow, loud and powerful, definitely the trip highlight for all of us. A senior citizen like me was a bit worried about the walking involved but the pace of this tour was comfortable. Guruvayur temple has ramps and the staff were helpful. Athirapally waterfalls required a short walk down but there were enough spots to sit and rest. The view from the base was worth every step. Food arrangements were simple and hygienic. My only suggestion would be to add a short rest stop between the two days as the drive is a bit long.

Bahut hi badiya package tha yeh do din ke liye. Thrissur pahunchte hi hotel mein check in kiya aur fresh hoke Guruvayur temple gaye, darshan bahut achhe se hua. Doosre din Athirapally waterfalls dekhne gaye jahan ka nazara kamaal ka tha, paani ki awaaz aur thandi hawa ne sab thakan mita di. Ek jagah traffic thoda zyada tha jispe time lag gaya lekin overall experience bahut accha raha. Rajasthan se Kerala aana bilkul sahi decision tha.

Being from Kerala myself I know Athirapally well but this was my first organised visit there and it did not disappoint. Guruvayur temple crowd was manageable on a weekday. The falls were roaring, clearly monsoon had already started upstream. Weather was hot at Thrissur but cooled down considerably near the falls due to the mist. Vehicle was comfortable for the whole trip. A short two day plan like this works well if you just want a quick refreshing escape.

Family of four, kids loved the waterfall the most obviously. Guruvayur temple visit in the morning was smooth with not much rush. Athirapally falls in June already had strong water flow, kids got a little wet from the spray which they found exciting. Food during the trip was simple south Indian meals, kids adjusted well. Roads leading to the falls have some sharp turns so those prone to motion sickness should keep medicine handy. Otherwise a memorable short trip.

Being from Goa I have seen my share of waterfalls but Athirapally still managed to impress me with its sheer scale. Guruvayur temple visit was our first stop, well organised with no unnecessary waiting. The drive between the two locations passed through some beautiful rural stretches with paddy fields on both sides. Ek dum simple aur sukoon wali trip. Guruvayur mandir mein sham ko darshan kiya jo bahut peaceful tha. Doosre din Athirapally falls dekhne gaye, itna zyada paani girta dekh kar dil khush ho gaya. Rasta thoda ghumavdaar tha jisse thodi der lagi pahunchne mein lekin scenery itni sundar thi ki waqt pata hi nahi chala. Local nariyal pani bhi piya raste mein jo bahut refreshing tha. As someone born in Kerala but settled outside for years, this trip brought back a lot of memories. Guruvayur temple visit was well organised, no unnecessary rush. Athirapally was breathtaking, especially with monsoon clouds hanging low over the hills. We stopped at a small eatery on the route for kappa and meen curry, simply unforgettable. Hotel room was decent though the water pressure was a bit weak in the morning. Two days is tight for this itinerary but manageable if you start early.

Solo trip and honestly one of the better decisions I made this year. Thrissur is calm and less crowded compared to other tourist towns. Temple visit at Guruvayur was smooth, went early morning to avoid rush. Athirapally falls in June had good flow, the sound of falling water is something you have to experience in person. Stayed in a modest hotel, nothing fancy but clean enough. Wish there was a bit more free time to explore Thrissur town on foot.

Went during monsoon season and Athirapally waterfalls looked absolutely massive because of the rain. Guruvayur temple was our first stop and it had a very grounded, spiritual feel to it. Roads were a bit slippery near the falls due to rain so we had to be careful while walking. Food at a small local restaurant on the way was simple but tasty, especially the fish fry. Wife sobat quick weekend trip sathi ha tour book kela hota. Thrissur town madhye thoda old-world charm aahe, temple la jaanyapurvi thoda walk pan kela. Athirapally Waterfalls ha trip madhla best part hota. Paani full flow madhye hota ani surrounding greenery khup beautiful vatat hoti. Pan overall trip expected peksha thoda tiring vatla. Weather humid hota, especially travel kartana, though waterfalls jawal halka breeze mule thoda relief milala. Vehicle clean ani comfortable hota, tyamule travel okay hota. Fakta Athirapally la thoda jast time milala asta tar better zala asta. Weekend trip mhanun theek hota, pan kahi goshti thodya rushed vatlya. Overall experience average rahila, mhanun 2 stars.

Practical and well organised two day trip. Reached Thrissur, checked in, rested a bit then went for temple darshan in the evening. Next morning left early for Athirapally, reached before the crowd built up which made a huge difference. Falls were in full flow due to the season. Lunch on the way back was simple home cooked style meal, nothing extravagant but satisfying. The only downside was patchy mobile network near the falls area, otherwise smooth trip.

Yeh trip busy work schedule ke baad ek break lene ke liye plan kiya tha. Thrissur pahunchkar thoda rest kiya aur phir Guruvayur Mandir gaye. Darshan peaceful tha, lekin overall trip utni smooth nahi rahi jitni expectation thi. Agle din Athirapally Waterfalls ka view really beautiful tha, paani ka flow kaafi strong tha aur scenery bhi impressive thi. Lekin travel ke dauran gaadi ek jagah technical issue ki wajah se ruk gayi. Driver ne issue jaldi solve kar diya, but us wajah se thoda time waste hua aur schedule disturb ho gaya. Travel mein hui inconvenience aur thodi rushed planning ki wajah se experience average se bhi neeche raha.
