By Air: Shimla Jubbarhatti Airport is the nearest airport in the city located at a distance of just 20 km from the main city. This is a small aerodrome that cannot handle a large volume of air traffic. Also, this airport is not operational throughout the year, hence, if you are looking to fly to Shimla then book your flight to Chandigarh Airport.

On reaching Chandigarh Airport, you can move ahead to your planned destination by bus, train or a private taxi.

By Road: From Chandigarh, you will have to cover almost 3-4 hours long road journey to reach Shimla. To cover this road distance you can either opt for private buses or public buses but if you are traveling with low budget then go for public buses through state-run bus service operating between Shimla and Chandigarh. Hiring a private taxi is also a great idea but it is substantially more economical than the buses.

Bus service to Shimla is available from other cities also including Delhi, Jaipur, Punjab, Haryana, and different cities of Uttar Pradesh.

By Rail: The nearest broad gauge railway station to Shimla is Kalka Railway Station which is well connected with different major cities of the country such as Bengaluru, Chennai, Mumbai, Delhi, Hyderabad, and Pune.
