5 Days / 4 Nights Kedarnath Yatra from Delhi
Honestly, starting your pilgrimage from Delhi is the only option that really makes sense logistically. Since it is the main transport hub, you can land here from anywhere and immediately get moving.
When planning a Kedarnath tour, you need to keep in mind your budget, health condition, and weather. You should start preparing for the Yatra at least one month before the journey, as the holy pilgrimage involves lots of walking and steep climbs.
Note: Even in May, temperatures at the temple drop to near-freezing at night. Always carry warm layers.
The Kedarnath Yatra from Delhi package cost starts from INR 24,500 per person for budget group packages and can go up to INR 35,000+ for premium/private packages. The exact cost depends on your choice of accommodation, vehicle type (shared or private), and whether you opt for a helicopter to Kedarnath or the trek route. Contact us for the latest 2026 pricing.
The cost can vary depending on the type of package you select, the activities you undertake, the kind of experiences you want to have, and the duration of the trip.
The last leg of the Kedarnath trip is a 16 km trek. The trek will take around 6-8 hours depending on your fitness level and weather conditions.
You should refrain from trekking in the monsoon due to the challenging weather and slippery roads. Before embarking on the Kedarnath trek, you should acclimatize yourself properly as the Kedarnath temple is situated at a very high altitude.
Alternatives to Trek:

Book ONLY from the official IRCTC Heliyatra portal (heliyatra.irctc.co.in) - do not book from agents or unofficial websites as helicopter ticket fraud is common.
With this package, you can visit Chorabari Tal, which is located on the Chorabari Bamak glacier mouth. This alpine lake is known for possessing healing properties and promises leisurely treks.
Add: Chorabari Tal is also known as Gandhi Sarovar - Mahatma Gandhi's ashes were immersed here in 1948. The lake is about 3 km from Kedarnath temple at an altitude of ~3,900m. It requires an extra half-day and good fitness.
This glacial lake is located at approximately 4,330 metres (14,200 ft) above sea level. It is known for its collection of Himalayan flowers. It is believed that at the Raksha Bandhan festival, Lord Vishnu was bathed in this lake.
Note: Vasuki Tal is 8 km from Kedarnath temple and requires a separate strenuous trek. It is recommended only for experienced and physically fit trekkers as an extension - not part of the standard 5-day package.
Located at a distance of around 500 m from the Kedarnath Shrine, Bhairavnath Temple is dedicated to Lord Bhairav. It is located on top of a hillock and offers the entire Kedarnath valley's views below.
It is believed that Bhairavnath guards the Kedarnath valley during the six winter months when the temple is closed. Pilgrims traditionally visit this temple after Kedarnath Darshan - it is considered incomplete without doing so.
The Samadhi (resting place) of Adi Shankaracharya, the 8th-century philosopher who restored Kedarnath temple, is located just behind the main shrine. It was damaged in the 2013 floods but has been reconstructed. Visiting the Samadhi is considered an essential part of the Kedarnath darshan.
Sonprayag is located in Uttarakhand's Rudraprayag district. It marks two mighty rivers, the Mandakini and the Basuki sacred confluence. It serves as an important stopover for pilgrims embarking on the Char Dham Yatra.

Delhi is at 216m. Kedarnath temple is at 3,583m. The ~3,300m altitude gain in 2-3 days can cause Acute Mountain Sickness (AMS).
Kedarnath temple is one of the 12 Jyotirlingas and is part of both the Chhota Chardham Yatra and the Panch Kedar circuit. It is considered the most powerful Shiva shrine in India.
The temple was built by Adi Shankaracharya in the 8th century. In 2013, the Kedarnath valley was devastated by catastrophic floods - remarkably, the temple itself survived intact, which devotees consider miraculous. A large boulder that rolled down from the mountain lodged itself directly behind the temple, diverting the water flow and saving the structure.
The temple is open only 6 months a year. During winter, the deity is ceremonially moved to Ukhimath where devotees can have Darshan.
