As a senior citizen travelling with my wife, comfort was our main concern and this tour handled it well. The vehicle was spacious enough for us to stretch our legs during the long drive. Hyderabad sightseeing on the first day was light and not tiring. Srisailam temple visit the next day was the highlight, the energy inside the temple premises is hard to describe in words. The surrounding hills and the forest reserve area add to the calmness of the place. Meals were arranged on time which we appreciated. A memorable pilgrimage for both of us at this stage of life.
This was an emotional trip for me since my late grandmother always spoke about Srisailam and I finally got to visit on her behalf. The moment I entered the temple and saw the jyotirlinga, I could not hold back tears. The whole journey from Hyderabad through the winding ghat roads felt like a pilgrimage in the true sense. Stayed one night, saw a bit of Hyderabad city before heading back home. Simple, heartfelt, and exactly what I needed. Grateful for a smooth and peaceful experience throughout the two days.
Bahut acchi trip thi overall. Pehla din Hyderabad ghumne mein gaya, Charminar aur Salar Jung museum dekha jo bahut interesting tha. Second day Srisailam ke liye nikle, raste mein baarish shuru ho gayi thi kyunki August ka mahina hai, lekin mausam thanda ho gaya aur accha laga. Temple mein darshan bahut shanti se hue, priest logo ne acche se guide kiya. Family ke sath ek acchi spiritual trip rahi.

Loved every bit of this short trip. Hyderabad's biryani alone made the first day memorable, along with a quick visit to Golconda fort in the evening. The next day journey to Srisailam through the dense forest belt was surprisingly enjoyable, spotted a few peacocks on the way which was a nice surprise. Temple darshan was peaceful, and the aarti timing we caught was beautiful. Weather was pleasant since it was October, not too hot. Small hiccup was patchy phone network in the forest stretch but that added to the offbeat charm honestly.
We planned this trip during the year end holidays with our two kids. Hyderabad day one was fun for the children with the zoo visit and boating at the lake. The next morning drive to Srisailam was long but the kids enjoyed the winding forest roads and spotted deer at one point. Temple darshan required patience with the crowd but the arrangements were decent. December weather was pleasant, cool mornings and comfortable afternoons. A well balanced family trip that mixed sightseeing with a proper pilgrimage experience.
Solo trip and honestly I was a bit nervous travelling alone but it turned out fine. Hyderabad city tour was relaxed, saw the pearls market and Golconda fort in the evening light which was lovely. The drive to Srisailam next day passes through really thick forest area, almost felt like a jungle safari at some points. Temple darshan was spiritual, priests guided us well for the rituals. Food at the hotel was simple south Indian, nothing fancy but filling. Weather was hot in the afternoon so carry water bottles. Would recommend to anyone wanting a quick spiritual getaway from the city.
Travelled with my sister for a short spiritual break away from work stress. Hyderabad day one was more about sightseeing and shopping in the local markets. Day two started early for Srisailam, the drive itself felt therapeutic with hills on either side. Temple darshan was calm and we spent extra time just sitting near the premises soaking in the atmosphere. April heat was noticeable by afternoon so we carried caps and water. Hotel stay was comfortable though the room was on the smaller side. A short but soul satisfying trip.
My husband and I took this trip as a small getaway before our anniversary. Hyderabad's old city charm on the first day was a great start, especially the biryani we had for dinner. The road to Srisailam the next day was long, around five hours, and a bit tiring since there are many hairpin bends. But once we reached, the temple atmosphere made it all worth it. We also managed to see the dam viewpoint before heading back to Hyderabad for our evening flight. Would have liked a bit more time at Srisailam itself, felt slightly rushed.
Quick trip with friends, we are all working professionals so time was limited. Landed in Hyderabad morning, checked out Hussain Sagar and Birla mandir same day. Next day early start to Srisailam, road trip itself was fun with music and antakshari in the car. Temple darshan took about ninety minutes including the queue. Weather was quite humid, June heat combined with forest air felt sticky. Local vada and filter coffee near the temple complex was tasty. One of our bags got slightly misplaced during hotel checkout but staff sorted it quickly. Good trip for a short weekend break.
Went on this trip with my father who is a big devotee of Shiva temples across India. He was particularly happy to finally visit one of the jyotirlingas. Hyderabad day was relaxed, we mostly rested since we had an early morning flight. The drive to Srisailam the next day took a bit longer than expected due to some traffic near the forest checkpoint. The temple itself is beautifully maintained and the surrounding hill views are stunning. A fulfilling trip for my father's wish.
Simple trip, nothing extraordinary but satisfying for what it promised. Reached Hyderabad and covered the usual spots on day one. Next day headed straight to Srisailam, darshan queue moved decently fast for a weekend. The temple complex is spread out nicely and there is a lot of history attached to the place which I read about later. Food options near the temple were basic but okay for a quick meal. Return drive to Hyderabad was smooth. Would go again if I get another chance during a festival season.
We booked this two-day trip mainly for my mother, who had wanted to visit Srisailam for years. Hyderabad sightseeing on the first day was okay, and we enjoyed Charminar and the lake area. The next morning we left early for Srisailam and reached around noon. The ghat road was scenic, but the long drive with so many curves was tiring, especially for my mother. Darshan at Mallikarjuna Temple was smooth, and the Krishna river view near the dam was beautiful. The main problem was that the schedule felt a little rushed and the return journey was delayed by about an hour because of traffic near the check post. Overall, the trip was fine, but it could have been more comfortable for elders with better time management and a little more rest.
Trip overall konchem disappointing ga anipinchindi. Day one Hyderabad major spots cover chesam, but sightseeing was okay anthe, nothing special. Day two early ga start ayyi Srisailam reach ayyamu, darshan ayindi but temple complex lo walk cheyyadaniki and old sculptures choodadaniki time chala takkuva anipinchindi. Krishna river ghat daggara kuda just short visit matrame cheyyagaligam. Roads konni places lo construction valla rough ga unnayi, so journey konchem tiring ga anipinchindi. Two days lo distance ekkuva cover cheyyadam valla trip mostly travel lo ne aipoyindi. Package value okay anipinchina, overall experience comfortable ga ledu and konchem more time Srisailam lo unte better ga undedi.
It was a short two-day trip that fit well into our long weekend. First day in Hyderabad was nice, we walked around the old city and tried some local street food in the evening. Second day was fully for Srisailam, mainly because the temple visit was important for me. Darshan happened without much delay and the priests were courteous. The drive through the hills was peaceful, with some nice river views on the way back. The only drawback was that the day felt a little tiring because of the long travel, and there was not much free time to relax or explore around Srisailam. Overall, a decent trip, but with a little more time at the destination it would have been better.
The Srisailam Mallikarjuna Temple holds a great deal of spiritual significance. Firstly, it’s one of the 12 Jyotirlingas of Lord Shiva. Secondly, it houses one of the 51 Shakti Peeths, Sri Bhramaramba Devi Temple. Therefore, it’s one of the rare temples in the world that simultaneously holds huge importance for both Shiva and Shakti followers.
No, photography is prohibited inside the sanctum of the temple. However, you can take pictures of the outsides of the temple.
The best time to visit this temple is hands down in the window of October to March. The weather in this period is quite pleasant and is therefore ideal for sightseeing. We also recommend against visiting here in summer and monsoon seasons. The former can be too hot to comfortably take a trip here. The latter, on the other hand, mars the experience with heavy rainfalls.
On regular days, you can expect the Darshan duration to be 1-2 hours. However, the Darshan timings can be significantly increased to 3–4 hours on special occasions like festivals, Mondays, and even weekends.
The visiting devotees should wear modest, traditional attire. Men can wear a dhoti/pyjama, and women can wear a suit/saree.
Inside the temple, no western clothing or shorts are permitted. To enter the temple for Darshan, they must be dressed traditionally in Kurta Pyjamas, Veshti, or Shirt and Trouser. These rules are intended to preserve the temple's cultural decorum.
Srisailam temple is an ancient and sacred site in South India. The presiding deity of the location is Brahmaramba Mallikarjuna Swamy, who is depicted in natural stone formations in the shape of a lingam and is one of the twelve Jyotirlingams in the country.
Shiva Linga Abhishekam is available in the early hours of each day, and we are permitted to enter the Garbha Griha and touch the Lingam.
Srisailam is India's only Kshetram that houses both a Jyotirlinga Kshetram and a Shakti Peetham. Both are enormously powerful and holy shrines on their own, and when combined are thought to be extremely divine.
