Day 01: Arrive in Ahmedabad
NamasteIndiaTrip representative welcomes you in Ahmedabad, the largest city and one time capital of Gujarat. Board the waiting coach. Proceed for local sightseeing that includes a visit to the Calico Museum of Textiles located in the premises of the Lalbhai in Shahibaug area after which you go on to the Utensils Museum in Vasna Vishala Hotel and then onwards to Jama Masjid located in the heart of the old city. Lunch and rest and explore the pols and markets of the old city in the evening and buy some souvenirs. Stay overnight in the hotel.
Day 02: Ahmedabad – Rajkot
Breakfast on Gujarati style snacks or farsan as they are known and board the coach for the 4-hour drive to Rajkot. Arrive. Check into your room. Freshen up. Set out to visit local attractions such as the Kaba Gandhi No Delo, the place where Gandhiji spent his childhood, now a museum. Next visit Bhomeshwar Temple and then the Watson Museum. Today’s tour ends and evenings are free for you to sample Kathiawadi delicacies in the streets and buy souvenirs. Stay overnight in your comfortable hotel room.
Day 03: Rajkot – Dwarka
Have a taste of local fafda, gathiya and jalebi for breakfast and set out for Dwarka, the land of Krishna. Check into your hotel on arrival. Freshen up and set out to explore this spiritual town by the seaside on your own.
Day 04: Dwarka Sightseeing
Somnath Temple Rise to a leisurely breakfast and join the group for full day sightseeing tour of Dwarka. The main attraction is the famed ancient Dwarkadheesh temple. Then visit the Rukmini Temple dedicated to Rukmini, wife of Lord Krishna. From here we go to Bet Dwarka or the Island, said to be the site of a submerged ancient city. Next, back to the mainland and take a ferry to Shankhadhar Island to view marine life and enjoy the beauties of nature. Overnight stay in hotel in Dwarka.
Day 05: Dwarka – Porbandar – Somnath (230 km/6 hrs)
Breakfast, board coach for the 230 km drive to Somnath. Enroute we stop at Porbandar, the birthplace of Mahatma Gandhi and visit Kirti Mandir. Porbandar also has Sudama Mandir and it is said Sudama, Lord Krishna’s friend and devotee, was born here. Lunch and board coach for onward drive to Somnath, one of the four major Chardhams in India. Check into hotel, freshen up and then rejoin the group for the visit to the Somnath Temple, site of one of the 12 Jyotirlingas in India. The impressive temple was ransacked several times by Muslim invaders but was rebuilt each time by devotees. Evening aarti is a soul-lifting experience. Stay overnight in your hotel.
Day 06: Somnath – Ahmedabad
Breakfast and board coach for the drive to Ahmedabad where the tour ends. Our representative offers to drop you at the railway station or airport.
