Kedarnath is a holy ancient place of Hindu worship where lord shiva is worshipped in the form of the king of the Kedar region. Located on the bank of the holy river of Mandakini this temple is a primal and a major pillar of the holy Char Dham Yatra along with Badrinath, Gangotri, and Yamunotri. Placed in the scenic district of Rudraprayag in the holy state of Devbhumi Uttarakhand, Kedarnath is famous for being the place which was built by the Pandava brothers making it incredibly pious to the devotees. About Kedarnath
The temple of Kedarnath Dham is situated in the district of Rudraprayag within the holy state or Devbhumi Uttarakhand. This is the highest jyotirlinga of lord shiva and its accessibility is very challenging due to its location in the remote part of India. The legend and mythological account of the temple goes back to the era when the gods used to walk the earth during satyug. It was not until the 7th or 8th century that the prominent sage, seer, and philosopher Adi Shankaracharya had reached Kedarnath in an attempt to revive the feeling of oneness among the Hindu population,
that this temple was revamped and made the center of Hindu pilgrimage. Ever since then Kedarnath had always been attracting travelers, pilgrims and Shaiva devotees from across the globe.
Kedarnath Dham can be reached in several ways and the government keeps coming up ways to make the journey more convenient for them. From helicopter services to pony and palki services reaching the temple is not a big deal for many but sure is a challenging task for people deciding to reach by trekking since it involves a walking journey of 18 km one way. This is a very challenging experience where people brave the harsh weather conditions, difficult situations, stay in tents and bear a lot of hardship to offer their darshan to the lord above and attain their moksha or salvation.
