Ganga the holiest river of India originates from Gangotri and this makes this one of the most significant Hindu pilgrimages dedicated to Goddess Ganga. Likewise other pilgrimages of the Char Dham circuit, Gangotri is also open for a public visit for six months only and for the rest part of the year the shrine is closed. There are several legends associated with its origin and the most interesting and significant is related to the one that of Lord Shiva. It is stated in the mythology that when River Ganga came down on the earth to cleanse the sin of King Bhagirath then her speed of flowing was so high and was devastating to the living beings on the earth. To control the speed of heavily flowing river, Lord Shiva locked her in his matted hair and this incident can be witnessed in every idol and image of Lord Shiva. Every year millions of Indians, as well as foreign devotees, flock to this sacred site in Uttarakhand to seek the blessings of River Ganga and come with an unflinching faith of washing away all their committed sins and to free them from the cycle of birth and death. If you are also burdened with the guilt of something or want to seek the blessings of Goddess Ganga then do explore this revered shrine this year and to make your dream visit true we have brought 2 nights and 3 days long Gangotri Yatra from Haridwar which is inclusive of all the relevant and basic amenities needed on the trip.
