10 Days Tour Itinerary

Day 1 : Dehradun → Barkot (Yamunotri Base)

Dehradun is the starting point of your Chardham Yatra that entertains you with its warm welcome. Once you have done all the formalities, you will start heading to Barkot, the Yamunotri temple base.

  • Dehradun Railway Station / Airport Pickup
  • Drive in a private AC car towards Barkot
  • In-flight scenic Himalayan foothills
  • Evening rest and preparation for the journey tomorrow
  • Evening time for rest and preparation for the next day’s trek.

Distance: ~130 km

Approx Time: 6–7 hrs

The quiet environment of Yamunotri is the best leg to acclimatize and the natures of mountains and rivers on the route are breathtaking.

Day 2 : Barkot → Yamunotri Darshan → Barkot

Today is the day of Yamunotri Temple Darshan, one of the four holy pilgrimage spots.

Yamuna River takes its origin in Yamunotri, which is connected with the legend of the goddess Yamuna.

  • Early breakfast and drive to Phoolchatti / Janki Chatti.
  • Trek / Pony / Palki options available for Yamunotri Temple.
  • Perform darshan and optional holy dip in Yamuna’s hot springs.
  • Return trek/drive back to Barkot by evening.

Note: Have warm clothes and wear comfortable shoes because it is cold.

Pilgrim Tip: Play in the divine thermal springs at Divya Shila.

Day 3 : Barkot → Uttarkashi → Gangotri Darshan → Uttarkashi

Now we are going to focus on Gangotri, which is considered the source of the holy Ganga River.

This Lord Shiva is believed to have released the holy Ganga here to clean up the world.

  • Drive Barkot- Gangotri through fertile forests and river gorges.
  • Arrive Gangotri to see and worship at the temple.
  • Visiting Bhagirathi River banks and having a spiritual atmosphere.
  • Go back to Uttarkashi and spend some nights there.

Distance: ~140 km (round trip)

Best Time: Crystal clear mornings are a plus to the spiritual experience.

The calm and serene atmosphere in Gangotri is an ultimate place of worship and meditation.

Day 4 : Uttarkashi to Guptkashi / Sonprayag.

You have passed through the tranquil mornings of Uttarkashi; you have started your lengthy journey to the entrance to Kedarnath, at Guptkashi or at Sonprayag.

  • Depart from Uttarkashi after breakfast.
  • Pass through picturesque valleys, rivers, and mountain roads.
  • Stop for meals and photo points on the way.
  • Reach Guptkashi / Sonprayag by evening.

Distance: ~230 km

Approx Time: 9–10 hrs

It is a solid travelling day, and brings water and snacks and has plenty of mountain-roads that wind.

Day 5 : Sonprayag → Kedarnath Darshan → Sonprayag

A most spiritual day on your way to Kedarnath Temple, the temple of Lord Shiva.

  • Morning drive to Gaurikund — the vehicle final point.
  • Trek/pony/doli to Kedarnath (16 km trek often).
  • Carry out darshan, pooja at Kedarnah Temple.
  • You will have to hike back to Gaurikund and drive to Sonprayag/Guptkashi.

Important:

The distance of the trek is approximately 14 km (1 way, 28km round).

It is possible to book helicopter services to prevent trekking.

The weather and the altitude of the area require good fitness in Kedarnath - it is a place with beautiful Himalayan views.

Day 6 : Sonprayag → Rudraprayag → Joshimath

Now that you have already had the Kedarnath darshan, today you are going to journey towards Joshi math, the entry gateway to Badrinath.

  • Depart after breakfast for Joshimath.
  • Drive through Rudraprayag with river confluence views.
  • En-route stops at scenic points, riverside lunch.
  • Reach Joshimath by evening.

Distance: ~200 km

Travel Time: 8–9 hrs

Joshimath is a holy town and has a glimpse of the Nanda Devi, Neelkanth Peak.

Day 7 : Joshimath → Badrinath Darshan → Joshimath

Pay homage to the sacred Badrinath Temple, which is devoted to Lord Vishnu. Badrinath is a destination of the Char Dham location that is close to the Alaknanda River.

  • Early morning drive to Badrinath.
  • Do darshan and ritual pooja in Badrinath Temple.
  • Take a holy dip in the walk around Tapt Kund.
  • Enjoy mountain views and peaceful Neelkanth Peaks.
  • Return to Joshimath for an overnight stay.

Day 8 : Joshimath - Auli Sightseeing – Joshimath

Spend a few days off temple traveling and visit Auli, a famous mountain resort with green meadows and the Himalaya Mountain’s best views.

  • Tour Gurso Bugyal meadows and picturesque paths
  • Relax with beautiful snow-capped mountains
  • Go back to Joshimath in the evening

Day 9 : Joshimath → Haridwar

Now you set out on your way back to the plains and towards Haridwar, one of the great spiritual cities of the banks of Ganga.

  • Please, leave him, Joshimath, after breakfast
  • Drive down along river roads
  • Reach Haridwar by evening
  • Visit Ganga Aarti at Har Ki Pauri - a heart-throbbing experience

Distance: ~320 km

Approx Time: 10–11 hrs

Haridwar also provides sight sightseeing and evening market walks at will.

Day 10 : Haridwar → Dehradun Drop & Departure

Your Chardham Yatra will end in a comfortable journey back to Dehradun and there you will be dropped either at the railway station or the airport.

  • Transfer privately to Dehradun.
  • Assistance for onward journey.
